English progressive rock act Yes has canceled its upcoming 26-city North American amphitheater and area tour, citing its founding vocalist Jon Anderson's recent health problems.
"In the wake of my recent respiratory attack, doctors have advised me to spend the coming months resting and recovering," Anderson said in a statement. "I'd like everyone know how deeply disappointed I am by this turn of events."
Anderson was admitted to a hospital last month after suffering from an asthma attack. Doctors have diagnosed the singer with acute respiratory failure, and have suggested he rest for at least six months.
Ticket refunds will be available at point of purchase. It was unclear at deadline if Yes would reschedule the tour.
The Live Nation-produced trek, which was to celebrate Yes' 40th anniversary, was scheduled to begin July 12 at Canada's Quebec City Festival, and wrap Aug. 22 in Los Angeles. The band was also expected to release a live album in conjunction with the canceled tour.

Prayers up.
6 months of rest?! wow - hope he takes some time to recoup and get well
NO!

Sad news. Seminal band. BTT.
Used to tease my kid brother (World's Biggest Yes Fan) with this detergent ad.
Prayers sent
IMHO, the worlds greatest band, greatest singer.
Yes.
Great band. Earlier this year, “Avalon” lost their fantastic male lead singer, Jody McBrayer (sp?) to a heart problem that forced him out of touring.
Too Bad. In the day I was a big Yes fan. They were head over heals better than any group out there today.
Wonder if Jon Anderson was a smoker. Everyone I know about his age who is having these types of problems was a heavy smoker.
Talk about a mismatch.
“Doctors have diagnosed the singer with acute respiratory failure, and have suggested he rest for at least six months.”
I would think ALL GOOD PEOPLE could come up with a better cure than this rather ROUNDABOUT approach. If they’re not careful they will have Jon Anderson CLOSE TO THE EDGE, and that will certainly ruin my MOOD FOR A DAY.
Best Wishes Jon.
When I was a kid who had never heard of Yes a radio commerical played on the hour for about 10 days straight advertising a Yes concert. I was so confused because they never mentioned the name of the band:
(radio announcer voice) “The concert you’ve all been waiting for, coming to the sportatorium, yes the band and their music, yes, tickets on sale at blah blah....”
Wimps! Freddie Mercury with Queen got off his deathbed in 1991 to record a special song for the 1992 Barcelona Olympics.
I saw Jon A. fall off the stage in Boston back in the ‘80’s. He went to perform brilliantly.
Too bad the concerts never sounded anything like the albums.
