Her defiant victory speech Tuesday night and her campaigns silence this morning have Clintons aides and supporters asking the same question she asked herself last night: What does Hillary want?
Shes holding out for something but Im not sure what it is, a usually well-informed campaign advisor who spoke to Clinton yesterday told Politico.
Other Clinton supporters, meanwhile, pressed her case for the Vice Presidency in a variety of forums, with congressional supporters led by Debbie Wasserman-Schultz of Florida considering a letter to Obama pressing that case, Wasserman-Schultzs chief of staff said.
But they were slowed by the lack of a clear signal from the candidate herself.
Clinton is the strongest runner-up in the history of Democratic politics, a status that gives her an unusual amount of leverage on her rival, Barack Obama. But shes also hemmed in by the reality that to be seen as a half-hearted campaigner for Obama, or worse, as causing his defeat, would be political suicide.
She especially needs help restoring support from an African-American community that had been her base assistance that can only come from Obamas fulsome embrace. She could use Obamas help raising money to retire her debts, something she signaled with an aggressive online appeal for cash last night. Her supporters assume she has earned the prime speaking slot at the Democratic National Convention that Obama can bestow.
Those around her say that beyond the mundane negotiating points a half hour in Denver, help raising money there is a more personal, less tangible demand that she be accorded the respect she feels she earned in an historic bid that brought her closer to the nomination than any other second-place Democratic finisher.

Seems pretty obvious. She wants to see if Barry's candidacy implodes due to another Wright-type problem or another eruption from Michelle, like the rumored tape. The Superdelegates switched from Hillary to Barry and they could always switch back.
Hillary’s plan is to force Obama to reject her as VP early.
Then she will say to the superdelegates, “Obama won’t put me on the ticket as his VP, but if you make me the nominee, I promise to put him on the ticket as my VP.”
"Money money money, money money money . . ."
Either that, or she's waiting for a bomb to drop on Obama or Michelle.
It’s no mystery ,, she can’t give up (remember the frog and the scorpion?) and as she said “anything can happen” ... a week from now it will become apparent to the Obamamessiah that he hasn’t won yet ,,, not until the supers actually vote at the convention.
Breaking news: Hillary has announced that THIS Friday she is suspening, NOT ending her campaign....hmmmmm, the plot doth thicken....
Everyone holding a losing hand is not required to fold and has the right to call. So far, Barry may have the winning hand, but he will have put all his cards on the table, Hillary is not going to take the MSM kibbitzers word that the hand is indeed a winning one.
I know that she ain't done yet!!!
Go Hillary Go, don’t let the racist misogynists get you down, the Presidency is rightfully yours and they are attempting to steal it from you. How dare they interfere with your great Destiny. Take heart also that they will see justice when you finally prevail....there will be wailing and gnashing of teeth!
Well, I wouldn’t be surprised if she wants be on the Supreme Court....or in charge of Human Services where she can implement universal health coverage for all.
Could this dysfunctional woman (and man) even go through with that public and private humiliation, event-after-event at the White House, for eight long years?
She would snap, I swear, a corpuscle in her brain would burst from jealousy and anger. I don't think she would be able to contain her envious rage, nor would Bill for that matter. A real "two-fer". It would be one of the most pitiful, but perhaps even dangerous things to view in American history.
This would be the most rocky President-Vice President relationship perhaps in US history.
Also, Freeper Constitutional experts out there: The Vice President is also selected by electors in the Electoral College. What constitutional provisions are there by his or her FIRING by the President? Could a constitutional battle be triggered if Obama tired of her, or worse yet, had been politically threatened by her or worse in her unsatiatable thirst to become Commander in Chief, and attempted to remove her?? Everyone knows she would fight tooth and nail. Probably she would just run against him again in 2012. One wonders.
For Obama's staff and the man himself, they better realllllly think this one through over the weekend.
