I’m still waiting for someone in the press to focus on the fact that Obama’s bagman Rezko was well connected with Saddam Hussein’s bagman Nadhmi Auchi, the primary oil-for-food money launderer.

The Obamas bought the house in June 2005 for $1.65 million--some $300,000 less than the asking price--and secured a $1.32 million mortgage from Northern Trust. Rezko's wife, Rita, bought the adjoining lot the same day, paying the full $625,000 So a neophyte home owner negotiates 20% off the asking price during a hot real estate market where homes are typically selling for 97%+ of asking price, and the savvy real estate investor negotiates a deal for FULL price. Nothing to see here.

Shouldn’t the headline read, “Rezko owns Obama”?

Obama pays his landscaper to mow and maintain Rezkos 7,500-square-foot lot as well as his own property. After the 2006 Tribune story, Obama says he sent a bill to the subsequent owner for the work, but doesnt recall how much it was.
I confess that I didnt look at it carefully.
Im assuming a couple of thousand dollars.
We were probably paying a hundred to a couple of hundred dollars a month. I mean this is basically mowing a lawn and maybe trimming some brush. And, so, his half of it, I know that we actually got this reimbursed by the subsequent seller, or the subsequent owner. And so I can probably get you that figure. But I cant imagine that its more than $1,000 or so.

This is not the vacant lot Barack knew.

A grand jury should be questioning Rezko about this deal while waving two alternative sentences for his recent conviction on 26 felony counts under his nose:
1] 25 years in the pen
2] 12.5 years in the pen
It's called negotiation!
