Interviewed by Hugh Hewitt today, Mark Steyn said that posts from FreeRepublic were introduced into evidence in the Canadian proceeding against him.
Oh lawd here we go.
Maybe put into ‘breaking’?
A little more info and/or link would be nice.
Cool, I’m famous.
I have a alibi.
What are the charges again??
It’s a pretty interesting freedom of speech case in Canada.
Did any of mine make the cut?
A worthwhile column about this case, by Steyn.
I know. I want to know what the posts were. : )
I want every “zeestephen” post deleted.....Now!
Oh, sure... What, some DUmmy came in here and posted some crap about Steyn, and THAT was introduced as evidence against him?
Was Steyn posting here at FR? Or did they just come her to find evidence of people correctly pointing out that the sodomites are breaking God’s laws?
Did cowboyway make the muzzie 10 most wanted list?
Do I need to go stuff some more 30 rd mags?
The Canadian Human Rights Commission is certainly a busy bunch of fascists.
I was just kidding. Honest.
Wow, the last statement I made in court were for my parking tickets.
I recall posting on the Triumph The Insult Dog thread about Conan’s week long visit to Canada (where Triumph instigated an international incident by mocking Quebec).
The Quebickians are coming to take me away ha ha hee hee ho ho who who!!! HA ha he he ho ho...
I was sent a FReepmail today that one of my comments posted a long while ago was entered into evidence against Steyn. So be it. I am not going to back down on my opinion. The TRUTH is that the Muslims are going to win unless we fight back within the US as well as overseas.
I am irritated that I have been singled out. I adore Steyn. He is right. Is that something to be ashamed of, or Americans, is that something to be proud of?
If we are done fighting because of Canada, would someone please let me know?
Geesh, I am PO’ed Really, would Steyn want me to lie?
“Juvenile”...Dr. Spock. Them, not you.
Jospephs got Habib reading through the comments on the Free Republic site Theyre foul. To Steyns unfortunate reference to Mulsims breeding like mosquitoes, a commenter replies: Great analogy! Lets get out the DDT
But in the article in question, Steyn doesn't say that. Instead, he quotes a Norwegian Imam, Mullah Krekar, who says: "Just look at the development within Europe, where the number of Muslims is expanding like mosquitoes".
Damn, that was awesome,LMAOhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=skCsyCbOpUA
To bad I didn’t know sooner. I could really put some anti-muskie stuff on there.
Steyn Opines on the subject here....
10:21 AM As indeed they prove.
Naiyer Habib (one of the complainants) now on the stand. From India, came to Canada in 1973. Lived in Saskatchewan until 2004, then moved to Abbotsford, B.C. (A British Columbia Muslim, at last!) Hes a medical doctor, professor of cardiology. How old? I dont want to say that, he says coyly. Eventually they drag it out of him: 67.
President of Islamic Association of Saskatchewan for many years. Co-founder of Muslims for Peace and Justice, formed after 2001 to counter Islamophobia. On the national board of the Canadian Islamic Congress (hence the Elmasry connection).
Joseph is now asking him about the Free Republic blog. How did he come across it. Well, shorttly after reading the Steyn article in October 2006, which he found concerning, he went on the internet to look for any impact, ie he Googled it. He found what he was looking for on the Free Republic: the Steyn article, with comments from readers underneath, to the effect that Muslims should be eradicated, that they should not be here, etc.
Were working off a printout of a Google search performed today. Porter is up, pointing out that Google searches produce different results at different times. Cant say with certainty that what he saw in October 2006 is the same as it is now. Seems a stretch, and it is: overruled.
Argh. Im out of power. Bear with me, until I can arrange to get near a power outlet. (SORRY - cant be helped. Theres one power outlet in the whole room, and if youre not sitting next to it )
Were on a break, so let me try to catch up
Jospephs got Habib reading through the comments on the Free Republic site Theyre foul. To Steyns unfortunate reference to Mulsims breeding like mosquitoes, a commenter replies: Great analogy! Lets get out the DDT Another: Oh, those Muzzies. Theyll get you with or without your help. Another: If you cant kill the enemy at least you can piss on their God. Another: I will die before I have that filthy fraud of a religion forced on me.
It occurs to me: I hope the BC Human Rights code makes exception for reports of their own proceedings. Otherwise Im in trouble, since the code makes no allowance for reporting on a matter of public interest
Back to the foulness. I have this feeling that I will not live to die of natural causes, and Islam will be a factor. Of Muslims in Gaza: Four good nukes will solve the problem.
Anyway. Habib says he found all this humiliating dishonouring questioning our morality. Of the original article itself, he said he found the cover shot of women in burkhas demonizing of Islam, that it would make people feel that this what will happen to you if you do not wake up. The text, he said, was discriminating, racial, full of hate. He objects, inter alia, to its use of a quotation from Libyan dictator Muammar Khadahfy, who has no credibility. Well come back to that.
The article, he says, makes things dangerous for us. His wife, who wears the hijab, has been taunted, told to go back home. The article puts fuel on the fire of a volatile situation, post Sept. 11, although he concedes he knows of no physical attacks resulting from it.
A legal incident involving FR?
Evidence? I’m so sure. LOL...the day a post on FR serves as evidence in a court of law, hades will freeze over, or a black man will be nominated for president of the United states.
Sounds like good advice and not abuse.
For those who haven’t been keeping up with this...they have pretty much declared the entire Internet “admissible evidence” of hatred against Muslims.
ah, thanks...one of those was a tagline
What did Habib think about 9/11 and the innocent murder of over 3,000 civilians? Hmmmmmmm?
#1. Why is Captain Kirk wearing a chick’s sweater?
#2. Can we be more specific about what comments on FR were deeply offensive to the picnictableclothheads and their friends?
Weegee’s been dead since 1968.
Maybe if the FReepers just proclaim themselves to be illegal aliens the charges will be dropped with no further questions. Si?
I find the Canadian system of jurisprudence humiliating, unfair, silly, small minded, and odious. Some days, because of their kangaroo courts, I feel so bad, I can't get out of bed or play my accordion.
This crap would have some validity if his wife were treated half as bad in Canada for wearing a hijab as a Western woman would be treated in Saudi Arabia for wearing a Western dress and a cross or Star of David.
“For those who havent been keeping up with this...they have pretty much declared the entire Internet admissible evidence of hatred against Muslims.’
Well...if I were Steyn’s attorney. I would flood the discovery with the thousands of Islamist websites which show videos of terrorists killing our soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan...the Yahoo chat rooms for Islamists and the Islamist terror recruiting sites in response!
I would then ask the Muslim dude if those are hateful and should be taken off the ‘internet’.
This lawsuit should be thrown out on the frivolous nature alone.
See post 36. Canada Free Speech Ping.
"I didn't do it. Nobody saw me do it. You can't prove anything."
read this and think...this is America under Obamamania...
