The bottom line is that yes, abusive and illegal behavior was going on there. And that when you bust up something like that you have to have your ducks in a row ahead of time, and do everything by the numbers.

In the military, a screw up like this would be blamed on “PPPP”, and a lot of officers involved would have been relieved for incompetence. And a lot of NCOs for not stepping in and telling the officers they were screwing up.

As it is, injustice abounds. The innocent will be punished and the guilty will get away. Lawyers will have a field day, and the resulting embarrassment will allow other crimes like this to go unpunished in the future.

I think that about sums it up. The FLDS just got a get out of jail free card and Texas is going to foot a great big bill.

The referenced article is a tad out of date in the face of that clear admission.
