I don't mean to sound crass, but at that age if it's not one thing it's another.
Both my grandparents died in their mid to late-80's from cancer that they got within a few years of passing.

Terrible. I wouldn’t wish lung cancer on anyone, leftist or not.
It’s tough not to like Paul Newman, even if he is an ultra-liberal fellow. I don’t remember him ever being mean or big-mouthed about it. He’s a terrific actor who has made a handful of the greatest all-time classic movies. Bought a bottle of his Caesar salad dressing just last night.

He IS a big time lefty but unlike the current crop of Hollywood lefties, speaks rarely about his positions, and doesn’t spend 24/7 bashing President Bush. And he does put his time and money where his mouth is unlike many on the left who expect all the “good works” to be paid for by the taxpayers.
That said, I certainly wish him and his family well. Sloane Kettering is about as good as it gets for cancer patients.

I knew a family whose son was a race car driver. He started getting little notes of encouragement about his talent some decades ago. He didn’t know who they were from, but eventually found out that they had been written by Newman. They eventually met and he continued to be encouraged by Newman who saw talent in him. A classy man.
I also like Newman as the voice of the old race car in “Cars”. Perfect casting.
His interview in Playboy magazine included that comment; maybe that’s where he said it first.
“His spokesperson played down his hospitalisation, insisting Newman was ‘being treated for athlete’s foot and hair loss’.”
Least creative spokesperson ever.
I’m in total agreement. Don’t forget his amazing blue eyes.

I disagree, but what do I know... I’m not very well plugged into the Hollywood culture. I’m just basing it on what I know about Newman (salad dressing) vs. Redford (disgusting left-wing movies).
Gotta tell you, at first when I saw your reply I thought it was “JohnDenver” telling me Newman was leftier than Redford! LOL! Now HIM I would believe!
Maybe he got it from eating all those eggs.
