I dated a girl who was born in Colombia but moved to Sweden as an 8 year old. Thanks to immediate immersion in the Swedish language, and the openness of the locals, she is now "more Swedish than the Swedes" in everything from accent to social attitudes (she is the least Latin "Latina" I have ever known).
From what I understand, the main problem is with the Mohamedans as opposed to the Asians, Latins, Slavs, and even Africans.
