He is afraid that make up will not cover the bruises and scratches on his face.

I hear NBC's Brian Williams is available.....if the school wants a truly inspiring speaker.

I don’t think commencement speakers are paid. With no money on the table, Clinton’s decision to walk away was a no brainer for him. No skin off his bulbous, red nose.

Maybe they could get Vladimir Putin.

Well, now that I said that [commencement speakers don’t get paid], I know that that’s not altogether accurate.
Honoraria are indeed offered, but are often waived by the speaker or designated to some charity.

More to the point, was Clinton offered an honorarium and could he accept it? His wife’s presidential candidacy might have made that a sticky issue, considering his front and center campaign role and the conflation of their personal funds with campaign cash.

This strike has been going on for months and Bill just canceled his speech Tuesday? Something does not ring true.

Exactly — he accepted many months ago, probably late in 2007 (many leading universities arrange their commencement speaker at least 6 months in advance). He expected this to be a chance to be surrounded by adoring hot young women while he preened over the Clintonista return to the big stage.

Now that he is a permanent has-been and Hillary is no longer on track to be POTUS, he sees no reason to honor his commitment. With the Clintons it’s always “what’s in it for ME?”

Even though, as I said, anyone in the big league of commencement speakers knows these things are arranged many months in advance. Now UCLA gets to scramble to try to find someone fast......

Wonder if bubba was paid in advance and now the university will be trying to get their money back.

Maybe they withdrew an honorarium offer? My opinion is that billy wouldn't do it--or anything else--without silver crossing his palm.

Do you remember an old bumper sticker, "Grass, Gas or Ass: Nobody Rides for Free"? That sums up my idea of clinton.
