Absolutely correct. Anyone with half good skills could fake the document posted at crazyKos. Real birth certificates have notary seals or stamps of some type.

My birth certificate copy issued by Indiana states clearly that it's not valid if not "computer signed". My kids' birth certificate copies from DC are similar, and without embossing.

BTW, there's stuff going on in those machine generated copies you don't know about ~ but there are experts who do.
