The timing of this makes me wonder if Oklahoma is preparing for something they anticipate the Federal Government is going to do under Dem leadership that they think requires this declaration. A few months ago, I was reading "The Fourth Turning" - the author predicted that sometime in this decade the "Fourth Turning" would occur with some sort of major crisis prompting major political change. The did specifically suggest as an example an serious economic crisis in 2008 that would alter the balance of power between the states and the federal government. Maybe events are moving faster than we think.
I remember reading a review of the Fourth Turning many years ago when it first came out (1999 or so???). The authors had said how the generation coming of age (18-25?) or so in the year 2000 was the same generation that had brought about the “Roaring 20s” as I recall. Very much the go-getters, aggressive and productive lot. But, generally usually very selfish and self-serving. UNLESS some dramatic event took place that would unite them in a larger focus. Then they would be the strong leaders that would lead in common purpose.
This was before 9/11. I always think of the young men and women that joined up and have been fighting so heroically when I recall this review. The more I hear of it the more I think that I need to read it.
