Warwick police say Texas Roadhouse followed the law when Marcos Riz applied for a job. Target 12 has learned that Riz not only supplied fake documentation, he stole someone identity.
Accused rapist Marcos Riz was hired by Warwick restaurant, Texas Roadhouse on Feb. 21st. The chain spokesperson says Riz, who was in the country illegally, was hired as a line cook. The company says Riz provided the required two forms of identification and filled out a federal I-9 form.
Warwick police tell Target 12, Riz used a resident alien card or a green card. But, we've learned the card is a fake. The number and the name do not match. U.S. Citizenship and Immigration says the E-Verify system is designed to detect these descripities and show a picture of the true owner.
A bill has been proposed that would require all state employers to use the E-Verify system. But, critics say the system is unreliable. So far, three-hundred and three companies in Rhode Island have signed on to use the E-Verify system, Texas Roadhouse is not one of them.
Texas Roadhouse is not being investigated for hiring an illegal immigrant. Warwick police say federal investigators have a copy of the fake card to try and find out where it came from.
I’m surprised ANY descripities where detected!
That’s “were”. The descripities really threw me, LOL!
We need a biometric ID system linked to a centralized federal computer system, with back-ups at state and county levels. No cards, papers, or similar worthless crap.
Color me “surprised”. Not. (grin)
ping
... yet some descripities get overlooked.
