If only we hasd been hearing the evidence ofsome real stones like this for the past 4 years instead of at the end of a lame duck when nobody in Congress cares.

Johnnie had best latch onto something like this very, very soon.

They can drill in my backyard, and front yard, if there is oil there.

McCain is for drilling offshore so my take would be that the President would not want to deliberately go against the Republican nominee so close to the election.

I agree with that. ANWR makes more sense from all angles. Weird.

Per Dana Perino on FOX just now- Bush will try to work with local governors on ways to do this- she stressed these are federal waters.

About seven years too late, but better late than never I guess.

“I would rather they drill in the godforsaken WILDERNESS in Alaska first”

I agree, but this is a step in the right direction. The only way to pressure Congress is take it public. The public now favors drilling. Those moderates, and slightly left leaners drop their ideals quickly when their wallet hurts.
So, take it public. Make Congress give in, or very publicly ignore the wishes of the people.

I thought that Bush41 signed an EXECUTIVE ORDER that put the kibosh on drilling somewhere - was it ANWR? OffShore? I don't remember.

If that's the case, couldn't Bush43 lift it?

It might hurt his re-election chances with the envirowackos, but his chances are pretty low already.

I agree. It's like the Good Lord said, "Here you go, drill up here, you can't hurt nothin'."

Yes- and Dana Perino just answered that question on FOX- she said the order can be overturned.

Also mentioning oil shale as a possibility..

Thanks for the heads up.

Of course we all know that Bush talks the talk but doesn’t walk the walk...

Bush administration bars drilling in Arctic wetland

And he has also failed for seven years to lift the presidential moratorium instituted by his father on drilling.

But...that would be wasteful- there is simply nothing to be found inside Reid’s head.

Dana Perino just explained that there were two components: the executive order AND a law Congress passed in the 90’s. President Bush could rescind the executive order and nothing would happen, because of the law Congress passed.

How about giving credit where credit is due: Bush has been trying to allow drilling throughout his presidency:

He also tried in 2002 but the rats and the rinos in congress voted against it.
