Dems to Bush: Drop Dead on Oil Drilling (More Foresight from the Dims)

House Democrats responded to President Bush's proposal to end the moratorium on drilling for oil offshore as well as in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge by telling the president to drop dead, although they used a lot more words to make the same point.

The Democrats' main argument was that the oil industry is already in possession of 68 million acres of oil leases and that Big Oil should drill away on those before they come around asking the federal government for any more land or ocean floor.

While Democrats rail against a lack of energy policy, they continue to obstruct any efforts to create a viable one. As I pointed out in a recent American Thinker article, President Bush in 2001 presented Congress with a broad energy plan that included 105 proposals which included:

-more drilling -more use of coal -streamlining regulation for new plants and refineries -and developing alternative sources of energy.

In doing so, he called on Democrats to "break free of the traditional antagonism between energy producers and environmental advocates."

Then, as now, Democrats played politics, instead.

Remember that, come November 4.

Demorats have obstructed any meaningful change in energy policy for as long as I can remember....we can't make our cars too small too fast or it will "hurt" the union thugs...we can't allow drilling off our shores because....well, its just so ugly that we'll let China and other countries do it instead....

and we can't take the limos away from the Rats because....well, how else are they going to move their fat arses.
