“We cant drill our way out of this addiction”

Sure we can. It's called supply and demand an there is NO shortage of oil. The reason why we have the problem in the first place is because of ignorant idiots with such thinking.

Open ANWR, open off shore drilling, build nuclear plants..... Our problems today are the result of ideological agenda’s be politically pushed through years past. From Caribou to polar bears or the “potential” threat of another Chernobyl, acid rain, nuclear waste, endangered reefs with endangered fish.......... Through bogus fear and threats as well as bogus conservationism, the far left has suspended free market and common sense and for years like in good typical socialist fashion managed the energy sector for us through government institutions. As with ethanol, these things turn into a huge mess with time, because the government inherently does not think with concepts like a bottom line, pragmatism, efficiency, or supply and demand. Rather, like in the VA, or with Social Security where some want to promise illegals benefits too; when the government runs the show, decisions are made based on special interests, trendy political whims and themes (today the buzz word is “green”)...... What becomes important when a government takes over isn't the function/end, but the means to the end/form. It soon becomes a political gravy train where idiots like a Kennedy, or Davis from California play their games and the real end becomes political, not output. The real goal once government takes over ANYTHING is “how do I the politician” score politically from using this issue to my advantage? So at the VA you end up with Sharpton wasting millions on special boards and panels to investigate racism. Contracts are awarded to small and minority owned businesses which are high risk and fail........ But as you can imagine, all these things score big points with their constituents. My point is simple, it's the government and their omniscient meddling which largely caused the problem in the first place, and the answer isn't more government with more great ideas like ethanol (BTW, how do you like your grocery prices lately?).

Thats because their idea of "sustainable energy" is always inherently inefficient. The free market inherently seeks efficiency.
