Hardline anti-illegal immigration, mostly.

And which candidate(s) was FDT taking that vote from?

He WAS the only credible Conservative candidate in the field. The other asshats were liberals His longtime and ongoing support of the one "asshat liberal" (your term, not mine) left standing is quite the mystery, then, wouldn't you say?

Fred as VP might get me pulling the lever, too.
This does, maybe, seem to be a sign that McCain is waking up to the fact that he can’t win if he keeps kicking his base.

While I love Fred and he was the guy I wanted to get the nomination he won’t be the VP nominee because McCain can’t afford to have an old white guy for VP. The press would probably dub them the second hand lions. Still, it seems like he has a prominent place in the McCain campaign and that’s really good news for conservatives.

Uh-uh. You made the claim Fred took votes away from somebody else. Who is this “Conservative savior” in the race he took votes from ?

I agree - even if he accepted he wouldn’t help the ticket much if at all. I know good conservatives who thought FDT was a joke, unfortunately. Personally I sent him money and was gung ho but that was then and this is now.
McCain needs some vigor for his VP.

When you find out who of the mental midgets running in the GOP primary was actually the savior of the Right then do indeed ping me, too.
Because I’ll be damned, but I missed any ‘conservative’ other than Fred who wouldn’t have been crushed by Obama.

Looks like McCain has some smarts. He knows that the only reason many conservatives might hold their nose and close their eyes and pull the lever for him, is because they don’t want Obama picking the likely replacement judges on the Supreme Court. If conservatives are assured that a bona fide conservative would be vetting candidates, they might be swayed.

I’m getting a whiff this one thinks one of the two tag-team RINO “I blew up my party reeeal goood !” Goobernors was the “giant.” I’ve seen stuff I’ve scraped off the bottom of my flip-flops that was more substantive and impressive than those two.

Yes, I heard Fred say that also. His vetting judges for McCain would be great......or on the Court himself would be fine with me!
To: Aria
When FDT flirted with the Presidential run, conservatives put him on a pedestal and hailed him as the second coming of Reagan. When conservatives took a much closer look at FDT, they learned he wasn't as conservative as they liked. Plus, Fred's lackluster effort didn't help either. As a result, social conservatives ditched him in favor of Huckabee.
