Men who find it hard to fake a smile could try taking better care of their skin, or surrounding themselves with other women to appear more appealing, he said. LOL!
I think the general observation is correct, though. If a woman has the slightest interest in a man, his touching her arm will encourage the interest. Even a highly married woman such as myself will sit up straighter and mind her pitch when an attractive Latino gentleman gives her a pat on the arm.
However, I tell my teenage daughter that this doesn't apply to her: if she even smiles too hard at that vaquero in the fancy boots, either they're engaged or his girlfriend will try to kill her.

I think its a societal "safe zone" thing. I have never heard a guy say "Dude, her arms are so hot!". Its the area that is safe to touch without offending. All other parts of a woman's body are rated continually (legs, breasts, arse, "great legs", etc..) and attributed to sexually. So, seems only natural to me that touching on the arm sends a signal "safely"

I almost posted my phone number just thinking about it.

Um, no.
I’m completely creeped out if a stranger touches my arm (or elsewhere). I never dance with someone I don’t know anyway...but come to think of it, that’s probably why I’m 30 and single! :)

;-).
I’m thinking of a particular Latino gentleman (also married) with whom I perform some popular Spanish music at church functions. I just want to be admired for my voice, honest!

Soap works on me, under the right conditions (husband, kids in bed, not going to have a baby in 9 months ...).

Make that:
Works every time. (**BIG EXAGGERATED WINK**)

As one woman already indicated, a stranger doing this will be considered as creepy usually.
It’s not about seduction, it’s about generosity and invitation. If you’re living a happy life, women will be drawn to that, and they will initiate the touching!

... touching makes a man appear dominant, and therefore more attractive to the opposite sex.So a good whack might be good enough to get her in the sack?

a stranger doing this will be considered as creepy usuallyIt depends on the context. If a woman has gone to a bar or social event looking to meet men, then a touch on the arm from a "stranger" can be a positive signal. If a woman has asked a man at the bus stop what time it is, a touch on the arm can be creepy.
