CA: Important Announcement from Save Our Kids Campaign (re: SB 777 & Marriage)
Save Our Kids e-mail | 21 June 2008

Posted on 06/21/2008 3:07:36 PM PDT by CounterCounterCulture

In the last eight months the Save Our Kids coalition and volunteers have made incredible headway in the campaign to protect our children.

Without the tireless, dedicated efforts of our supporters, none of what we have accomplished would be possible. The generous support, prayers, and donations have humbled our staff and we will remain forever appreciative.

Even with the setback last fall of coming just short of our referendum qualifying, Save Our Kids supporters have continually reinforced our resolve to overturn SB 777. This cause is bigger than one campaign-it is part of the overarching battle to defend our values and freedom.

Since the start of the Save Our Kids initiative campaign, the political landscape in California has shifted significantly. The California Supreme Court's decision redefining marriage has turned the state's attention to the traditional marriage initiative on the November ballot. In the last month, our staff has worked overtime responding to the marriage decision and contemplating the future for traditional marriage in our state.

After much prayer, consideration and consultation we have made the decision to suspend the Save Our Kids campaign to allow our staff and supporters to dedicate themselves to the Marriage amendment.

As you can imagine, this was an extremely difficult decision considering our commitment to this issue and the knowledge that so many have sacrificed so much for our cause. However, we believe that the marriage issue is so critical to the future of California families that we must focus our attention on the marriage constitutional amendment. The unanimous sentiment of those with whom we have consulted is that we cannot win the battle over SB 777 and lose the war over traditional marriage, the foundation of our families.

The Save Our Kids campaign to overturn SB 777 will move forward, as soon as we restore marriage in November. For now, we ask you to join us in focusing all of our attention and resources on passing the Protect Marriage Initiative.

Once we have passed the marriage initiative, we plan to re-file the Save Our Kids initiative and begin our campaign again.

While we know this difficult decision will disappoint many of you, rest assured that your efforts have not been in vain. Our work to this point was laying the groundwork for all future campaigns. Everything you've done-educating citizens, collecting contact information, and opening new areas of influence-will be used for the marriage campaign.

Some may consider this decision to suspend the campaign a discouraging setback, but we believe in the wisdom of prioritizing our work and devoting our entire attention to the marriage campaign. Please don't be discouraged-we plan to return to Save Our Kids as soon as the highest priority marriage campaign is won.

Make no mistake that the marriage initiative is the critical issue of our time; even yesterday the homosexual lobby filed a lawsuit to stop the marriage initiative from appearing on the November ballot. Our opponents are well financed, organized and tenacious.

This kind of opposition demands our undivided attention and dedication.

As we move forward, CRFI's staff is developing our plan to help pass the Protect Marriage initiative. We ask that you stay tuned to our emails and rededicate yourselves to preserving traditional family values throughout California.

With sincerest gratitude,

The staff of Capitol Resource Family Impact and Save Our Kids

P.S. Again, thank you for your generous support. Many of you have dedicated long hours and sacrificed a great deal. This effort is not over-it is simply on hold until marriage is saved.

They certainly are! DO NOT allow them to do to CA, what they were allowed to do to MA!! They will try, and try hard to do just that.

I can’t believe that the children are not coming first. That’s BS.

And they have the media and the government schools on their side as well with non-stop promotion of the homosexual agenda.

Children ARE coming first!! IF they are not able to overturn the SC’s decision and get the marriage initiate on the ballot, so that the voters can have their say—then children will NOT be safe anyway—in bathrooms, day cares, boy scout troops, schools, churches or anywhere else.

I have to disagree. The best way to protect the children is to do things that DIRECTLY are in their best interest, not indirectly. I am saddened by this shift in focus.

Don’t you get it?

If the marriage fiasco stands, there is no way to roll back sb777. I don’t know why there aren’t impeachment processes for the judge that made the law and reversed the voter’s choice.

They are now attempting to get the proposed constitutional amendment off the November ballot.

can you send me a summary of why SB777 is bad? I believe one issues was it passed a law that teachers and schools could no longer use the terms mother and father but need more ammo.

I’ll see what I have in the archives.

The main crux was “gender identification” and which facilities (boys/girls bathrooms/locker rooms) the student would be allowed to use.

The Save Our Kids site is still active.

Senate Bill 777 (Senator Sheila Kuehl, D-Santa Monica) states that “no teacher shall give instruction nor shall a school district sponsor any activity that promotes a discriminatory bias because of” homosexuality, transsexuality, bisexuality, or transgender status.

Text of SB777

Here's the part about gender identity...

210.7. "Gender" means sex, and includes a person's gender identity and gender related appearance and behavior whether or not stereotypically associated with the person's assigned sex at birth.
