Violent Surfers Shred Paps Over McConaughey

A group of surfers just got gnarly on a group of paps -- all over photos of beach king Matthew McConaughey!

Around 12 photographers were on the beach in Malibu this afternoon trying to get shots of Matty hitting the surf, when an all-out smackdown was laid on the pappers by turf-protecting surfers.

One pap was hit in the face and we're told suffered a broken nose, while another was thrown into some rocks and had his camera smashed. McConaughey was not involved in the ruckus.

Police tell us a battery report was filed by one photographer and no arrests have been made.

A rep for Matthew has yet to get back to us.

Interesting when the public is turned loose on the papperazzi.

Are these particular surfers rich slackers or should we set up a reward fund?

One thing the world can use fewer of is a picture of a surfer.

While I don’t particularly like the idea of paparazzi hounding people, it’s important to understand that the relationship between them and stars is symbiotic. Celebs thrive on and require publicity, including candid shots, for their careers to prosper. I’m sure they are annoyed, but in my opinion the paps are part of the life they’ve chosen.

If Matty really wanted privacy, he could have gone surfing at a more remote beach. He went to Malibu and expected privacy from the paparazzi?

I understand, though, that paparazzi can step over the bounds of acceptable conduct, and my occasionally require strenuous methods of correction. But just for showing up and taking pictures? Nope.

Yes, Paps remind me of those little fish that travel around sharks, cleaning them.

paparazzi

It's not just the paparazzi. People have become territorial and don't appreciate others invading their space. In Cal this has been going on a very long time in the beach areas, and a few mountain lakes I can think of. Ya may not like it, but that's the way it is.

About a year ago we were fishing on a lake in So. Cal, and some cockroaches thought they'd throw some beer cans in the lake. A bass boat pulls up real fast, right up to these idiots, with 2 guys on board about 40 yards from us in this cove.

We heard one guy tell yelling at them to get their trash out of "their" lake...Don't know if these guys spoke English, but there was no attempt by these 3 roaches to retrieve their trash. Next thing we know, one guy on the bass boat jumps on their rented flat bottom boat, and proceeds to kick all of their asses in a very swift, brutal fashion, Two of the roaches went into the water and the other guy left on board got his bell rung really hard by this guy.

It was great, we watched and applauded, as the roaches in the water quickly retrieved their trash and hauled a$$, as the two on the bass boat warned them to stay off "their" lake.

It was really great!

I’ve been told to beat it in Malibu. Localism is nothing new among surfers and especially those from west L.A. neighborhoods. “Dogtown and Zboys” captured it well.

Nope. The Paps are pricks and living in Hollywood I can attest to that...

3 weeks ago, there was a funeral procession that passed by Cahuenga that cuts into Sunset and Hollywood Blvds. There was a major celeb in one of the cars that trailed. One of the paps actually tried to cut INTO the file of cars and was yelled at by one of the cops. The driver of the van from where the pap came from called the cop “a-expletive”. The cop just ignored the idiots. After the last car went through, the van tried to run down the cop.

Yeah, a classy bunch these clowns are. I believe in karma and they’ll get theirs.

Some are rich slackers and some are working class slackers. All like McConaughey, a surfer, and resent pap smears invading their beach.

Who is Matthew Mc....?

(because I don't know the answer to that, you probably think I'm an old man who lives in the woods with his dogs and guns, huh?)

I consider Montauk my home break. I do my west coast surfing down in San Diego. Never had a problem.

I've surfed Puerto Rico (since 1969), Barbados, Dominican Republic (when nobody was), Bahamas, Mexico, Tobago, Kauai, Maui, the Outer Banks, Ireland and France. Never Malibu.

Oddly enough, I don’t find that picture to be interesting.

I’ll send it to my wife, and see what she thinks.

From what I hear, the only time you want to be within 10 feet of old Matt is right after he surfs. It’s about the closest he gets to bathing during his day-to-day life.
