The contract with America was a farce. The only true contract with America was enacted in 1789 called the Constitution. The GOP's forgery only illustrates how far both parties have drifted from the Constitution for the sake of gaining power. The GOP was pandering to the masses as evident by their failure to stand by their own principles set forth in their own document.
Mentioning Conservatives and Republicans in the same breath is a contradiction given the GOP has incrementally moved farther to the socialist left to expand its voter base by appeasing socialists at the expense of conservatism. The end result is increasingly socialist candidates such as John McCain. The GOP needs to return to the principles set forth in the Constitution by our founding fathers instead of pandering to the very group of people who seek make the Constitution irrelevant by replacing our Democratic Republic with a strong centralized socialist government.

Actually, I’m withdrawing my previous comment. The rest of your comments which you made are very close to what has happened. I wouldn’t call McCain a socialist, but I would call him a liberal coddler.
