I flew over Iowa this week and it looked like about 1/3 of the land had water on it. Have you read some freeper comments about living in a flood plane? You think they could make the case for moving out of the entire state of Iowa?<sarcasm>

My DIL is from Iowa. I was telling her a few days ago about an article where someone posted (not a Freeper) that the flooding was their fault because they “farm” the land. She asked...where do people think food comes from?

"living in a flood plane?"
Unwise indeed.

I think you'll find, among true conservatives, that they don't mind people living on flood plains... what they do have a problem with is using taxpayer's money to bail people out of trouble because of their choice to live in a flood plain.
Having personally lived through 2 minor floods that caused foundation damage and a fire that destroyed everything, I pulled myself and my family up and we went on. We didn't get any free hand outs.
As long as people take responsibility for their choice, I have no problem with them living in flood plains.
