Authorities in a northern Malaysian city are calling on Muslim women not to wear bright lipstick and noisy high-heel shoes if they want to follow the "Islamic way".
The municipal council in Kota Baru, run by a conservative Islamic party, is distributing pamphlets with the advice, in an effort to prevent rape and protect women's dignity and morals.
Council spokesman Azman Mohamad Daham said: 'We just distribute pamphlets. Our minimum guideline is they must wear headscarves.
'The rest is up to them. If they want to follow the 100 percent Islamic way, it's up to them.'

Many Muslim women sincerely believe that wearing hijab prevents rape.

Sounds like the people here that say women shouldn’t dress provacatively because it looks like they’re asking for it. I guess different folks got different ideas of provacative.
Being raped is bad enough, but it is being killed by the husband or father that really sucks about it.

I like how they are so fearful of men having sinful thoughts, they just jump right to punishing the women.
Rather than look inward and address issues within yourself, force others to change and fit your needs.

Because there IS no rape in the muslim world.
Well, there is, but there are no rape victims because they are murdered by their families in honor killings.

There was a woman who wanted a divorce because her husband PEAKED at her while she was sleeping. He’d never seen her face.

I don’t believe that women who dress provocatively are “asking for it”. But I do believe that dress for attention sometimes gets the unwanted type of attention. Notice that most female birds are drab colored to help hide them on their nests.
