My buddy's wife, who is about 5'-4" 110# (soaking wet, in full winter clothing), prefers their Taurus Tracker in .41 mag, over their 10mm Glock.
The Taurus is a great gun for backpacking in bear country. The frame is lightweight titanium, and ported to minimize kick. .41 mag will at least slow the bear down a little to squeeze off another round or 3.
.41 mag will definetly slow down a home intruder, and make him rethink his life goals for a second or two. A second or two might be all he has:)
I love happy endings:)

What the Frack is that funky revolver with the barrel mounted so that the firing cylinder is on the bottom. Weird!
Mateba. Most likely a .357.

IIRC, another FReeper actually NAMED the "thing" when I posted it once before on an anti-gun thread.
Joe, I posted these pics in #11 on a Florida gun thread you pinged me to a while back. Do you know what the name and maker of the "wierd" gun is?
Thanks!

I also carry a Walther PPK/S (7+1 in .380 w/Winchester Silvertips) because it is nicely concealable and packs a decent punch for its size. It’s still a small gun, though, with a limited mag capacity. Last autumn, I got a Springfield XD-9 which changed my mind about the efficacy of 9mm pistols. It’s relatively concealable, even with a police service 4” barrel (the CCW version is 3”). I’ve got 16-round mags (standard=10) loaded with +P JHP’s, and a CTC laser grip. After running 2000+ rounds through it, I have to report that it is balls-on accurate, even using the manual sights. It also features a captive internal striker mechanism, with a trigger safety and a grip safety similar to the classic 1911 .45 ACP design (sans beavertail). I know it sounds like an advertisement for Springfield but I absolutely love this gun and would recommend it highly for personal defense in close-quarter tactical situations.

OMG, I was at a range where a guy 2-3 stalls down was shooting a .454 Casull. With earplugs and headphones, that bad boy was just deafening. Painful.

Thanks. Would not have known what it was even if it had bit me and I thought I knew all of the manufacturers.

Yep, she’s firing a snub all right. You can almost date the picture by the way she’s cupping her support hand. That went out during the ‘80’s.
If you like revolvers, check out the revolver Betty is holding in post 11.

The revolver is a Mateba Semi-automatic revolver. It's a first model chambered in 38/.357 magnum. The grips are made from French Walnut. As you can see, it fires from the bottom six o/clock position. The upper portion of the gun cycles so quickly because it only has to advance to the next chamber and doesn't have to slide to the rear to accept a long cartridge. It's impossible to see when someone fires it. It has removable barrels with an internal barrel and external shroud. The second models don't use a spanner wrench. The nut for the shroud is actually a compensator.
Check the Serenity poster on my profile page.

She wont get it with a 19.Not necessarily, a couple or three taps to the chest with a jacketed hollow point will do plenty of damage. I'd rather my wife grab a gun she could feel comfortable shooting than a hand-cannon that she might miss with by a mile.

Indeed. When SNL in the first season made fun of “Squeaky” Frome by having her (played by Elaine Newman) pull out a gun on Jane Curtain saying “Die Fascist Swine” and pulling the trigger to a ‘click’ ‘click’.
The joke being that Frome was in prison for pulling a automatic pistol with a full magazine and the safety off out on President Ford, aimed it and pulled the trigger to a ‘click’ ‘click’. Dummy forgot to chamber a round!
Stupid libs on SNL (Al Franken, et. al.) either didn't know the difference or didn't have the right prop (couldn't find a auto-pistol prop in all of NBC?) because the gun that Elaine “Squeaky Frome” Newman pulled out on Jane Curtain was a revolver.
Still funny. Would have been funnier with an automatic.

Maybe its just the angle or the fact that I live too close to L.A.. The blonds look like background but that black girl is HOWT! Look at those thick legs also, they took the picture from the wrong angle!

Nuts. You just reminded me that the Sarah Conner Chronicles got canceled.

Also, what's the effective range of .45ACP fired from a Glock under water
MythBusters did a program on just that using different caliber weapons. They even topped it off using a Barrett (I think) .50 Cal..... Very surprising outcomes!
