Cindy McCain Praises Diana as 'Inspiration'
London Times ^ | June 25, 2008 | Ben MacIntyre

The woman who wants to be the next Republican First Lady pledged today to expand her humanitarian work if she makes it into the White House, taking inspiration from the late Diana, Princess of Wales.

Speaking ahead of a political fundraiser in London tonight, Cindy McCain said that she felt "very honoured" to serve on the boad of the Halo Trust, the Anglo-American anti-landmine charity endorsed by Diana and which organised her controversial walk through an Angolan minefield in 1997, the year of her death.

Speaking to The Times, Mrs McCain said of Diana: "She was (a) great inspiration to me and to the British people as well. She was a remarkable person and had a loving heart.”

Ms McCain's London fundraiser was expected to raise at least $500,000 for her husband, John McCain, who needs every penny he can get to match the superior financial firepower of his Democratic opponent, Barack Obama.

In an interview to be published in Times2 tomorrow, Mrs McCain spoke of the problems she faces reconciling her domestic life and charity commitments with being the wife of a presidential candidate. “I won’t lie to you and say that I always enjoy the campaigning, but when the days get a little long and I get a little frustrated, I remind myself that I have a ringside seat on American history,” she said.

I can’t stand McQueeg and I don’t want to vote for him, but I also don’t want BO and his Aunt Esther/Angry Shirley Hemphill to win either. If Cindy can help McLame win, I am all for it.

The whole painkiller story will undoubtedly be rehashed in the media before the fall and will detract from her image.

Let me guess, and she wants world peace.

I don’t fault her for this, it’s expected. I still don’t like these types of comments, no matter who makes them.

I may have to end up voting for the ole..... I’m not liking it one bit and If it is a problem with me dreading hearing the wife going around talking about what a great guy he is...then that’s your problem Hildy.

Diana as ‘Inspiration’ = Diana was a slut.

Cindy just has the McCain bad judgment.

The article says she talks about that issue openly as part of her rehabilitation, so I guess she will have to address it and all of her other baggage when questions are put to her.

Actually I think she was referring to the Princess. She was (gasp) divorced, you know.

Heaven knows I can’t stand McCain. But Cindy is not a problem for me. She could have been wiser in a role model, but face it, she was in the UK.

He biggest mistake was her husband, but I guess they get along...well as good as anyone could married to Captain Queeg. I am sure she never hides the strawberries.

That’s what I meant - because Diana slept with everything that moved right in front of her children. What worse can a mother do?

But, now that I remember Cindy stole another woman’s husband THEY ARE BOTH SLUTS!

You mean this one worn by many of her followers from secretaries of state to transportation secretary to attorney's general and even some RINO gals?

I am puzzled as to how Cindy was at a fund raiser for her husband's campaign in London.

Until the donors were US citizens living abroad, any money raised from Brits. would not be legal.

She signed the papers for her then minor age son a few yrs ago to join the Marines.
Jimmy is based here in San Diego and getting ready for his second tour in Iraq.

Another son to grad from Annoplis soon and probably join the Marines.

She does have a first hand clue.

Sorry, I’m not impressed by Diana or Cindy. Rich women have the time for charity work. What else are they gonna do, sit around and knit socks? I’d like to see them hold a full time job, raise their own kids AND do charity work. Then I’ll be impressed.

Here is a group not to be impressed with

Bob Barr had acquiesced to his then-wife having an abortion in 1983.

He had also invoked a legal privilege during his 1985 divorce proceeding so he could refuse to answer questions on whether he’d cheated on his second wife with the woman who is now his third.”
