LOS ANGELES (AP) - Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's love for children is by no means limited to their own: The couple has donated $1 million to help kids affected by the war in Iraq, the Education Partnership for Children of Conflict announced Wednesday.
The organization will distribute the donation, made through the couple's Jolie-Pitt Foundation, to four organizations working on behalf of children who have lost parents, homes and schools in Iraq. Children in the U.S. who have lost parents in the conflict will also benefit.
"These educational support programs for children of conflict are the best way to help them heal," said Jolie in a written statement from Education Partnership for Children of Conflict, which she co-chairs.
"We hope to encourage others to give to these great organizations," Pitt added in the statement.
The money will be divided between the Armed Services YMCA Operation Hero Program, which provides military children with counseling and educational support; Women for Women International, which will provide books, school supplies and other basic necessities to Iraqi women and children; the International Rescue Committee, which will repair three schools and offer classes for more than 2,500 students; and NineMillion.org, which will give school uniforms and learning materials to more than 2,000 displaced Iraqi kids.
Last year, the Jolie-Pitt Foundation gave more than $300,000 to support the International Rescue Committee's relief program for Darfur refugees.
Jolie, who's expecting twins, has said the babies are due in August. She and Pitt have four children: Maddox, 6; Pax, 4; Zahara, 3; and Shiloh, 2.

Not all of their politics are correct, but she gets her hands dirty, knows what is going on and puts her actions and money to work to solve problems. Most Hollywood types sit in the huge mansions and just cluelessly bitch.

Exactly, she and Brad may be lefties but they put there money and their actions where there mouths are, which they don’t run that much in the first place.

Brad is a lefty, but if anyone took the time to read some of the things she has written lately she is sounding a lot more like her father’s daughter than a lefty, if anything she sounds like an independent.
I don’t think there are many people who are less impressed with these two than I am. That being said, this is a good thing and I salute them for doing it.
The agencies seem reasoned, and they are putting their money to good use here. I do respect that.
We need to pray for them. I think the two of them have some real potential and Jolie really does seem to have a heart for those suffering. As far as the Hollywood crowd goes, they seem to do far more than many in the area of charity.
I think they might have given more than Oprah and she has more money than Solomon ever had.

I have seen three movies with Jolie where she has a proper British accent. I then decided to watch the extras on her first Tomb Raider movie. She sounded like a sixteen year old American mall rat.
Yep. She can act and I am going to see her new movie, “Wanted”.
Brad and Angelina are pretty much on the level. I respect their do gooder type activities. They do it right and with common sense.
So I say — Good on them!
As far as Angelina being skanky I think she’s coming to her senses and hope she reconciles with her dad John Voight who is a genuine conservative (Also great in “Heat” one of my favorites)
He was beyond sexy in The Lake House. Best kiss is the scene where he and Sandra are dancing to that McCartney song. That was a hot scene.

Jolie did lose me, though, when she made the statement: “I want to create a rainbow family. That’s children of different religions and cultures from different countries.”
Don't see the logic there. Won't their country and religion depend on where and how she and the Bradster RAISE the little tykes? Where they are FROM and the religion of their birth parents matter less than where they GROW UP; and the children are whatever religion their Brangelina teach them until they are old enough to make their own choices.
Was she planning on raising one kid in India as a Moslem, one kid in Africa as a Buddhist, another kid in China as Jewish, and one in Pakistan as a Christian?
They both very nice people. They live in the quarter and they act like everybody else.
They can often be seen walking to the corner store with the kids,taking the kids for bike rides, going to local restaurants and movies.
Also Brad and Angelina are doing the Make It Right rebuilding project down here which is helping to build houses in the ninth ward.
Oh yes they're libs, but they seem totally sincere.
