Does anyone want to try to make the case that it doesnt matter whos President? Only Ginsberg and Breyer were appointed by Bill Clinton. The other 7 were appointed by Republicans.
OK, so 100% of those appointed by Dems voted to cut the 2nd Amendment out of the Constitution, but only 29% of the Republican-appointed ones did. Shameful, yes, but a HUGE differnce.
If someone can't make the distinction here, or between McCain and Obama on a whole host of issues, something's wrong. I don't like McCain much, but he's clearly much better than the only other alternative.

The difference between the evils each election gets less and less. I'm not convinced that McCain would appoint a conservative justice. He voted for Ginsburg. he's already said he would NOT appoint someone like Alito, for being too conservative.
So his record on this isn't good. Not good enough to risk allowing him to ruin the GOP and true conservatives in Congress by having his liberal agenda identified with them. He'll manage to destroy from in the inside.
Besides, barring illness or injury, the justices set to retire next will be the libs. The youngest justices are all the conservatives. Sure, it would be great to stack the court with even more, but if the worst were to happen, the balance wouldn't be changed. And McCain 'reaching out to the other side' (ie., getting up and sitting over there) could possibly be the worst.
