SAN FRANCISCO -- A suspected gang member accused of killing a father and two sons escaped prosecution in a weapons case earlier this year when the San Francisco district attorney's office concluded it didn't have enough evidence to connect him to a gun that a passenger in his car was carrying, authorities said Thursday.
Edwin Ramos, 21, of El Sobrante, who police say is a member of the Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13) street gang, was formally charged late Thursday with three counts of murder in the shooting deaths Sunday of Tony Bologna, 48, and his sons Michael, 20, and Matthew, 16. He is being held without bail.

This is the second time this year Ramos has been in San Francisco County Jail. The first came when he was arrested the night of March 30 after officers stopped a Mitsubishi that Ramos was driving in the Tenderloin. The car had illegally tinted windows and no front license plate, police said.
Ramos cooperated, according to a police report on the incident, but his passenger, 20-year-old Erick Lopez, ran. A pursuing officer saw Lopez throw a handgun in the gutter. The gun was recovered, and Lopez was caught and arrested, police said.
Ramos was also booked on felony weapons charges and as well as a separate count of being in a criminal street gang. Police cited "numerous documented contacts" that officers had with Ramos and Lopez, and said both were "active members of the MS-13 street gang."
The gang, started in Southern California, has ties to El Salvador and engages in drug dealing, weapons trafficking and extortion, authorities say. Ramos is a native of El Salvador who is in this country as a legal resident, O'Sullivan said.

Looks like San Francisco’s illegal gun ban isn’t having much effect on the bangers.
The alleged perp lived in the East Bay.. The tourists killed were also just passing thru. Oh yeah , that gun ban really has had results.
This piece of garbage shot and killed three men for no more reason than they momentarily blocked his car from turning left. That’s it. When Bologna backed up to let Ramos through, Ramos or one of the other people in his car shot all three Bolognas.
Try ‘em all for three counts, convict ‘em all, hang ‘em all.

How interesting that almost all the comments on the newspaper website are virulently negative about the DA and her anti DP policies. So how did this moron get elected?? Or is she appointed? Someone must have voted for her. Or if she was appointed, whoever put her in the job should be thrown out. Heaven forbid those lefties vote for one of those mean Republicans though.

The evil work has been accomplished by cadres of anti-capitalist totalitarian termites who have slowly eaten away at the legal bearing walls of American greatness. It has mostly happened out of sight of Middle America, taking advantage of our people's great capacity for tolerance.
I predict that tolerance will will be pushed beyond the tipping-point with an Obama Presidency. Those who know how to build and operate guillotines may have a bright future.
