IF they so badly want us to behave like Europeans, lets by all means do so.

Let’s start by upping the amount of our electricity produced by nuclear (Europe has far more than the US), and lets start importing their European diesel vehicles too (some of which get 75 mpg)!

Seems they're ignoring the fact that all other prices will skyrocket. At some point hungry, jobless people may take action against those who are trying to kill them.

But when? Apparently it's not at $4 a gallon. $5? $6? $10? What is it going to take to get people to wake up? Tell you what, if I were a RAT politician, I'd be doing the same thing because it sure doesn't look like it's going to be any time soon. They could actually get serious majorities in both houses of Congress and grab the White House while they're advocating policies directly contributing to $4 and higher gas. That's astounding! It's also absolutely terrifying for what it says about the voting public.

Well I'm already there. I heat with oil. IF ti went to 7 bucks a gallon, I have an almost 300 gallon tank that needs filling 5 time a year. $2100 x 5 =10500 bucks more a year plus add i driving costs and all the skyrocketing cost of everything else. I'm ready to hang every one of them. this is not the result of the free market. This is the result of govt. insanity. If they persist on taking action to kill me, I will not go quietly. In fact, I will do everything in my power to make them go first.

And I'm sure you just didn't get angry this morning. For the life of me, I cannot understand why people complain about the prices, but refuse to do anything about it. Well, actually, maybe I do.

Here in the People's Republic of New York, the Politburo put an additional $1.75 tax on cigarettes at the beginning of this month. $5 one day, $6.75 the next. You would think that would make enough of an impression on people to do something. You would think. So here's my wife who makes her own with an injector (thanks to a great post that appeared in these parts a few years back) talking to coworkers last week about the high prices and telling them how she makes her own and it's lot less money plus they don't have all the garbage in them that premade cigarettes have. Do I need to finish the story? Yup, they all said, "Oh, that's too much work. I can't be bothered doing all that!"

So despite an enormous tax increase that upset these people and the offer of a solution to counteract it, they don't want do anything about it. Complain? Sure. Do anything? No. Pathetic. Utterly, utterly pathetic. And you know it's the same pathetic attitude they have about oil prices.

2010?? Yeah right. Oil could be $200 a barrel by the end of this summer.

I also live in NYS. And alas, I must agree with you. People do nothing on their own unless a leader appears. This could be good or terrible. But at some point, it must happen. We could end up with a Hitler or someone on the level of a founding father. It's a toss u[. all I know, for sure, is that millions are going to die. And I prefer that they not be Americans.

10 million vehicles off U.S. roads

How will they ever make up all that lost revenue. Hmm.

forecasted $7-a-gallon gas prices by 2010, which according to some analysts would force 10 million vehicles off U.S. roads over four years.

Sending 20+ million illegals back home will get 10 million vehicles off the road as well. That would also go a long way toward fighting the dreaded urban sprawl.
