Party officials say they're simulcasting the entire convention in Spanish. Al Garza says he's of Hispanic descent, and he's outraged. "I speak English, and I don't watch anything in Spanish...This is a nation that was founded and based on English." But Damon Jones with the Democratic National Convention says they're doing it for good reason. "Spanish is the primary language for the more than 35 million people in our country and more than 300 million around the world. So, we think it's a great message to share and a great step forward at being as inclusive as possible." Garza contends "If we do this for the Hispanic population, we're starting down a slippery slope. We shouldn't be pandering to a community based on ethnicity. If we're all going to play the same game, then why shouldn't we have stations in German, in Chinese..." Jones says they're just trying to share the message of the Democratic Party with as many people as possible.

si, la es una problema
We should sneak some Freeper translators into the convention and "re-interpret" some of what the speakers say. When Obama is up there giving his speech, our translator could be telling the Spanish-speaking audience that Obama is saying, "We should attack Mexico with nuclear weapons" and "My administration will ban chorizo." |
Mark my word.
With McCain and Juan Hernandez, there's little doubt.
And over 1 billion people speak Chinese. Where’s their translator?!?!?
Exactly....I don't get all this Hispandering....I really don't... the only think I can figure is by keeping Mexicans separated.. (after all it doesn't say : "press one for English....press two for Spanish...press three for French...press four for German...etc." it says: "Mexicans press two and the rest of us use one") there will be an endless supply pool of gullible cheap labor who will never assimilate...and always be on the bottom economic rung, amnesty or no amnesty....
Well they ought to simulcast the whole frappin thing in Chinese, too, because there are five or six times as many Chinese speakers as Spanish speakers out there in the world somewhere who would enjoy a good circus.
hey that's just crazy enough to work!
oh sh-t, here comes the macrina again.
lol
That was my first thought as well (although it hadn't occurred to me to use the word 'frappin').
