On Thursday, June 12, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) and the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) will hold a news conference at CAIRs Capitol Hill headquarters to announce the launch of a nationwide mosque census project, the first comprehensive survey of its kind.
WHAT: News Conference to Announce Mosque Census Project
WHEN: Thursday, June 12, 2008, 11 a.m.
WHERE: CAIRs Capitol Hill headquarters, 453 New Jersey Ave, S.E., Washington, D.C.
CONTACT: CAIR Communications Coordinator Amina Rubin, 202-341-4171 or 202-488-8787, E-Mail: arubin@cair.com
The census, which will be conducted this summer, is sponsored by a coalition of organizations including CAIR, ISNA, the Muslim American Society (MAS), the Imam Mahdi Association of Marjaeya (IMAM), the Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA), the Muslim Alliance in North America (MANA), the Hartford Institute of Religion Research (Hartford Seminary), and the Religious Congregations and Membership Study 2010 (a project of the Association of Statisticians of American Religious Bodies).
The goal of the mosque census is to contact every mosque and Islamic center in the United States to compile accurate information about the Muslim community in America, specifically relating to size, infrastructure development, the participation of women and youth, and openness to involvement in American society.
CAIR, America's largest Islamic civil liberties group, has 35 offices and chapters nationwide and in Canada. Its mission is to enhance the understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding.
While we wait for that report, just go here to find a Mosque near you.
Why don’t they just ask the FBI?
Mutual understanding?
As I recall, FBI Director Mueller had lunch with these animals.
I can already tell you how many mosques there are in America: too damn many.
