SACRAMENTO - Drop the iPhone and listen up, because the rules of the road are changing.
Starting Tuesday, it's against the law to use a hand-held cell phone while driving in California. If you want to make a call, you're going to have to use the speaker phone or some hands-free device. Otherwise, tickets start at $20 and rise to $50 on subsequent offenses.
But with that said, don't worry too much if you forget the only hit is to your bank account. A ticket for this won't add points to your license. It'll be an infraction, not a moving violation that raises insurance rates.

I guess it’s time to buy a “Blue Ant Supertooth”!
No warnings, just tickets for new cellular law

California: where the power of the government will fall hard upon a citizen for using a cell phone while driving, yet illegal immigrants suck off the public teat unfettered, and rogue judges ignore the public’s will regarding marriage.
How glad I am California is not my home.
"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." - Manuel II Palelologus
“How glad I am California is not my home”
your loss...
rain, 70% humidity, mosquitoes & 90 degrees temps...
I’m glad I’m not in FL! LMAO
My Mom was T-Boned by a driver yakking on a cell phone. It was fortunate she was driving one of those unpopular older full-sized cars with a steel frame or her injuries would have been much, much worse.
“you aren’t smart enough to handle a cell phone in your car.”
Heck! Most aren’t “smart enough” to drive!
I think most of the clowns I see on the freeway got their driver’s license in a box of Cracker Jack...if they have a license at all! LOL
How many months or years will it be until some Democrat nanny legislator suggests all licensed vehicles need to have a remote monitoring camera installed, so that the DMV can observe the driver’s actions at all times remotely, and mail tickets to the driver’s home address for any infractions of the law (seat belt not fastened, using cell phone, using drugs, smoking in car with kids present, yada yada). Voila, simple easy revenue source.
Don’t laugh — this sort of thing is something they will eventually try. Probably first they would try to get their foot in the door by say ... requiring the remote cameras be installed on the vehicle of any driver who has received two or more moving violations in the last perhaps 18 months. That way, they get the strict law and order types behind it.
Then camel’s nose under the tent sytle, they gradually expand it in coming years, until they eventually get them mandated in all new vehicles, which is what they wanted in the first place.
Well, I don’t know how it is where you live but on the freeways in CA, it never fails, if you see someone weaving in and out of lanes, they are on a cell phone!
ya got two chances of that ever happening...
slim & none..
and Slim just left the building. LOL
in my experience it is usually a Government Employee, the first thing that needs to be done is to make all laws apply to everyone with NO EXCEPTIONS for Anyone for Any reason ever. Government Employees should be immediately terminated for violating ANY LAW, then subject to 5 times the maximum penalty. This will put a damper in their social control agenda.

This works very well for me, as I never even have to look at the phone. Also, when I get an incoming call, I push that button on the blue tooth to take the call. As an added benefit, I keep my phone in my pocket, and set the ring to vibrate, only, so when I'm out in public, those around me are not annoyed by hearing a ringing phone.
Works for me.....
I don’t make or take calls while I’m driving.
“Works for me” LOL
Don’t be so sure. Give them a decade or two, and we all might be surprised what they get sheeple to accept ...
Well, I have 5 grown children and 11 grandchildren spread around the country, so sometimes, their calls are necessary. OTOH, I’m the designated person to take phone calls coming into a large non-profit (Second Amendment Sisters). These calls come into my cell phone when I’m not at home.
