Obama Speech Attracts Clinton Supporters

INDEPENDENCE, Mo. --A presidential campaign swings through Missouri again Monday. Obama's big message Monday is a defense of his personal patriotism. But politically, it's significant because Missouri is a battleground state.

Democratic candidate Barack Obama launched a weeklong effort to re-define himself with a speech about patriotism.

He's working on party unity to get out a bigger Democratic vote in November.

It's the first time he's had some prominent Hillary Clinton supporters in the crowd.

Obama says "patriotism can never be defined as loyalty to any particular leader or government or policy."

As Obama talked about patriotism, some Democrats showed up for the first time.

Congressman Emanuel Cleaver supported Hillary Clinton until the very end. Now he's on Obama's team. "I've never been against Obama, I've been for Senator Clinton," Rep. Cleaver said.

**SNIP**

There were a couple hundred empty seats, even though Obama's staff says all 1,000 tickets were given out in just two hours Saturday. Apparently, some people who got tickets Saturday didn't show up Monday.

A member of Obama's staff tells NBC Action News they didn't want to overbook and have to turn people away.

And this was a much quieter crowd than at previous Obama events. "It was very quiet in there at one point, I felt like I was in church almost, right before he came out," Raytown resident Gina Harvey said.

The quieter atmosphere may have also been because this was considered a more serious speech, not just a big campaign rally. There were no political leaders who came out to whip up the crowed before Obama started speaking.

I'm glad Dole said what he said today about Clark. It's about time someone talked straight about this. I'll go one further. not only is Clark an absolute politcal lackey and hatchet man, who has used his own service for completely self serving and political ends, we have in Obama the furthest thing from the trasitional meaning of a patriot.

He has shown by his own positions and his own willful associations of many years that he is an anti-American militant and an abject marxist. Neither of those could ever qualify him to be referred to as a patriot, I will not lessen the meaning of that word, or subject the absolute selfless service and sacrifice of real patriots by equating the likes of Obama to them.

Conservative should show up to his speeches and look bored and confused. When the osama supporters applaud, just shake your head and frown and mutter Hillary’s name.

The reason why people didn’t show up is simple. Liberals don’t want to hear talk about patriotism. They want to hear Obama talk about socialist policies and bashing Bush.

One would think a man running for the Presidency shouldn't have to lecture on HIS patriotism.

There is NO DOUBT about John McCain's and that's not even considering his POW years.

Is that a pic of his “crowd”???

For Hussein to win Missouri, he will have to crank up the FRAUD MACHINE in St. Louis and Kansas City.

When Clark dissed McCain by saying getting shot down over Vietnam doesn’t qualify you to be President, McCain’s response should have been “Being a POW may not qualify you to be President, but I am sure sitting around in a dorm room doing cocaine does”.

Gotta cover for the Messiah.

"Fortune" mag had some stuff on Obama this week. Said the same thing as this article....lots of empty seats, and no more lines at the "Obama Rallies".

Good news, IMHO. Too bad for Obama that the general election isn't in March.
