Palmer is first vice chairwoman of the Durham County Democratic Party. Her arrest came five days after police arrested the party's third vice chairwoman, Joy Johnson, 30, and Johnson's husband, Joseph Scott Craig, 25.

Now we are up to the first vice chair.

I live here in Nifongville, and actually ate dinner last night with a friend that worked briefly with Joy Johnson and was stunned at the charges. She couldn’t believe it...said Johnson was nice and quiet, the usual sort of “he was such a nice boy” you find people saying about serial killers, I guess.

This has no national traction yet, BTW. Big story here in Durham and in the Triangle in general, but nothing nationally. Tell me if it wasn’t two biggies in the Durham County Republican Party (if we even HAVE one), it wouldn’t be all over the national news by now.

Durham County is near Raleigh... about 90 miles from me. This story is unbelievable.

Speaking as someone who knows a GOP county vice chairman (heh heh), why do they need SO MANY freakin’ vice chairs? :)

I mean, Durham County is overwhelmingly Democratic. Nifong Country, you know.
