Oh, ye Kossack of little faith

It doesn't take much to make Markos Moulitsas, King of the Kos Kidz, go ballistic. The latest flips and flops by preseumptive Democrat presidential nominee Barack Obama are having that effect. But Kos has been known to hurl his favorite invective ("F*** you") over much less. Here's what the Obamessiah is doing to tie the leftist blogger's undies in such a knot:

First, he reversed course and capitulated on FISA, not just turning back on the Constitution, but on the whole concept of "leadership".

-snip-

Then, he took his not-so-veiled swipe at MoveOn in his "patriotism" speech.

Finally, he reinforced right-wing and media talking points that Wes Clark had somehow impugned McCain's military service when, in reality, Clark had done no such thing.

Obviously, the Kossack in Chief isn't much of a basketball fan. If he knew something about the game, he would be familiar with the common tactic known as the head fake. To drive to the basket, a player fools the defense by leading with his head in one direction and actually moving in another. In Obama's case, he's faking to the center of the court, but he will drive down the left lane.

It's a given in modern politics that a Democrat candidate for the White House will run to the left in the primaries and run for the center during the general campaign. Once elected, there's nothing to prevent said candidate from reverting to type and governing from the left.

Kos would do well to remember that what counts is not what Obama says during the campaign, but what he has actually done for most of his political career. What Obama has done places him well to the left on the political spectrum. The King Kossack should not forget that Obama was named the most liberal of all United States Senators for 2007, essentially the last year he showed up for work on something resembling a regular basis to cast votes, give speeches and stuff like that. The most liberal member of a body which included the likes of Chuck Schumer, Frank Lautenberg and Barbara Mikulski -- not to mention socialist Bernie Sanders -- dude, that's liberal!

So do not fret, ye Kossack of little faith. This is still the same leftist Obama you love so much and who sends thrills up Chris Matthews' leg. This is still the same leftist Obama who, in an unguarded moment of rare candor, said, "I don't believe that people should be able to own guns." This is still the same leftist Obama who received NARAL's endorsement for his 100% pro-abortion voting record three years in a row. This is still the same leftist Obama who remains committed to income distribution, social engineering and big government.

Not to worry, Kos, this move to the center on Obama's part is all a ruse, a sham, a prevarication. It's just a big head fake. Here's a a little mnemonic you can use to help you keep your progressive bearings and remind you that the Obama leopard hasn't changed his spots. Every time you hear the Obamessiah say something that even remotely sounds centrist, just tag this line from the infamous Monty Python sketch onto the end of it:

Snap snap, grin grin, wink wink, nudge nudge, say no more!
That's not too difficult, now, is it?

I’d have to agree. Obama must be paying attention to his various sycophants who are probably cautioning him on his past leftist statements. It’ll be like Clinton who promised tax cuts but then well you know he just couldn’t find room for any. If he is elected Obama will announce that he’s looked at all the less than total Marxist solutions for what ails us and decide that they just don’t work.

Kos just wants to make sure that Soros is getting his money’s worth out of Obambi. When he buys a candidate, he wants him to stay bought.

Or perhaps Kos is doing a little head-faking of his own...

In ‘04 Soros spent $25 million of his own money to try and defeat George W. and failed. Can history repeat itself?
