If you read one book this summer make it:
The Candy Bombers: The Untold Story of the Berlin Airlift and America's Finest Hour - Andrei Cherny
This is the best non-fiction book I've read in a long time. Anyone doubting our abilities to convert a culture into a democracy needs to read this book.
I am now on to:
"Monster of Florence" - Douglas Preston.
Very good look back at the real case of the Florence serial killings which were the basis for a lot of the Hannibal Lecter books.

"Monster of Florence" - Douglas Preston. I just finished listening to that one on audiobook. LOVED IT! It reminded me of the Zodiac murders in the SF Bay area.
I also enjoy his Agent Pendergast books with Lincoln Child. "Still Life With Crows" is my favorite. They aren't exactly deep, but they are a fun read.

(RUSH: McCain was in the Hanoi Hilton longer than we've been in Iraq, and never gave up.)
