Prison. She should have been put to death 30 years ago.

Since we didn’t execute her for committing murder, it must be prison.

I agree with much of what you say, but have to correct you. Paul was ultimately executed in Rome. He counted it “all joy” to be in prison, and suffer.

I am thrilled that Ms Atkins knows Jesus Christ. He will be her comfort, she doesn’t need her family and friends. Her sins are forgiven, and her debt paid in God’s Kingdom. But, like Karla Faye Tucker, her debt to our society must be paid.

Justice is served by her serving out her sentence.

Then she definitely should go home today.

Why do you care more for the murderer than the families of those murdered? Why do you want to hurt those families?

Alas, she lost her right to ask for mercy, for she showed none to her victims.

I pray that she gets some solace within the prison system, and that her family is allowed to be with her when she goes to meet her God.

She has every right to ask, “adopt4Christ”, but she is not entitled to a favorable answer.

We live on earth, Satan’s favorite stomping grounds, and we must continue with our best efforts to establish human laws to confront and to confine evil.

If we err, God will set it straight.

While this woman has every right to ask, we must think about earthly justice vs. heavenly justice.

In my humble opinion, she should die in jail.

You may feel differently, and may think that going easy on evil makes you “holier/more forgiving” than the rest of us. Perhaps you mistake “forgiveness” for tolerance. God forgives, but we humans are not asked to “tolerate” such evil in our midst.

Being kind and tolerant of this kind of evil evil isn’t part of my understanding of what Christ is teaching us.

He loved the sinner, but hated the sin. I truly doubt he would have forgiven this poor woman’s sin here on earth, and I think he would have supported her sentence, but He would prayed for her repentence, and trusted her soul to God.

We are not stoning this woman. We are just denying her what she denied her victims.

“stupid things”.....you call the wholesale butchering of people, the act of cutting a baby out of a live screaming victim, begging for the life of her child...a “stupid thing”...equivalent to immature pranks that Alouette may have done as a kid?

That is sick. Shame on you.

She could choose dying while someone carves out her entrails. That’s how she killed Sharon Tate, isn’t it? While Sharon begged her to at least save the life of her unborn 8-month-old baby?

I wonder what Roman Polanski would choose for Susan.

I still have a VHS of "The Fearless Vampire Killers".

The naughtiest thing I did as a teenage was cut class and go across the border to Canada.

I would think it is a combination of several things:

1) Is the prisoner terminal and/or incapacitated?
2) Do they still represent any threat to society?
3) Are they being provided expensive medical services?
4) Are State or victims rights advocates/victim family objecting?
5) Was their sentence for death, life without possibility for parole, or a given length of time? If the latter, could they have otherwise been expected to conclude their sentence and be released?
6) And finally, do they have family that would receive humanitarian value from their release? (While this is by far the least consideration, there might be value in organ transplantation and other medical procedures for non-criminal family members.)

And remember that just because they are a “celebrity” convict, it neither means that they deserve extra-harsh or extra-lenient punishment for their crimes, if there is to be justice before the law.

This is especially important in such a “high profile” case. If the Manson family had killed ordinary people, would this still be an issue, or is this being treated differently because they killed celebrities?

No where did I speak of being tolerant of Susan Atkins crimes, or that I have more compassion for her than for her victims. I also said I have no opinion about whether she should stay in prison or die at home with her loved ones around her.

What she did was unspeakable, and many tens of millions of dollars have been made off the crimes from 40 years before, of which you all so emotionally and enthusiastically retain many of the details in your minds.

There are times that God allows mass murderers to live — to show the depths of His mercy even here on earth. I gave specific biblical examples, but there are many others in modern times, only we don’t like to consider them — since we are fixated on our current system of justice.

You think because I see a person who commits such crimes as she did as human, worthy of God’s grace and forgiveness as we ALL are offered, that this means I have no mercy or pity on her victims who suffered hideous deaths. This is a conclusion based on a premise which you cannot possibly say is true about me. You do not know me. You do not know what is in my heart, or what I personally have suffered throughout my lifetime, or what children I have rescued from unimaginable horrors through adoption.

Susan never truly expected to be released from prison after what she did those years ago, no matter what the circumstances were and who she was at the time. I don’t assume she expects to be released now as she is dying, even though she has petitioned for just that.

I’m just grateful that I serve the God of heaven and earth who knows our hearts, and sees into the darkness of our souls in ways we ourselves cannot. I am grateful He forgives every sin, and desires ALL to come into repentance, even though our freewill to choose or NOT choose His gift of redemption through faith in Christ will keep most away from eternal life with Him.

That is all I have to say on this. Thanks for listening.

Jesus was saying that the heart of a murderer is dark and evil. And that other people’s hearts are also dark and evil....their hearts are the same as the person who acts on his hatred; but really the two are the same, inside. It is the hate and the evil that is the catalyst for the murder. Get rid of the hate and the evil, and there will be no murder.

Jesus was not excusing all murderers and calling for their release from charges, but rather, calling His followers to give up their sinful minds to His regenerating power, so that murders would not happen!

Using this man’s reasoning, and outlook on what Jesus wanted, and I am a follower of Jesus Christ, we should dismantle our justice system altogether. No one can be arrested, or punished, because we are all guilty!

Hardly the way God wants the world, is it? He is a God of Justice and laws. I would remind Mr. 4Christ, that Christians believe that Jesus is part of God..the same God who wrote the laws of the old Testament. You know, while Jesus walked the streets of Jerusalem, there were people hung on the cross every single day. He didn’t try to stop their punishment. Shoot, He didn’t even try to stop the adulteress from being stoned. He said, “go ahead”...

Those who show mercy, will be given mercy. I believe that Ms Atkins has been shown a large amount of mercy. She should “count it all joy” and suffer her sentence as a follower of Jesus Christ.

I do not know what is in the heart of Susan Atkins, only G-D can know what is in a person’s heart.

I do not believe that people who obey the law (both secular and scriptural) are JUST AS EVIL INSIDE as people who do commit murder and other heinous crimes. You can never abolish hatred from a human being’s heart anymore than you can abolish love—these are emotions that exist within everyone, but people are expected to control their bad emotions and not act on them.

It is not uncommon for sociopaths to manipulate well-meaning prison chaplains into believing they have been “saved” and are therefore entitled to “stuff” such as favorable parole board reviews, early release, and other earthly favors.

The fact that she’s asking to get out shows she has not repented. She is no Christian. She lies.

Keep us safe and keep her locked up.

I agree: The fact that she dares to ASK for a gift shows me that she's still all about her.

Let her die locked up. Burn her body. Flush the ashes.

She was sentenced to DEATH before the stupid California Supremes decided that was inhumane...before they realized that it was just. She already had a gift that she didn't deserve. She should shut up and quit bothering the “civilians.”

Just a few years ago

“In 2002, Atkins filed a lawsuit in federal court claiming that she is a “political prisoner” due to the repeated denials of her parole requests regardless of her suitability” (AP)

NO she has not rehabbed nor repented.

She lies and is dangerous.

Well, that is where you and I differ. I know that hatred can be removed from a person’s heart, because I have had it removed from mine.

There is a story of a little boy, who had to attend a boring piano recital by his sister. He was young, and a little naughty. He would not sit still, and kept being disruptive. His father leaned over and told the boy to sit still and behave, and if he didn’t. he was going to be taken out of there and given a spanking! The little boy sat still for a long time, then he leaned over to his mother and said, “I may be sitting down on the outside, but inside, I am standing straight up!”....he hadn’t changed. He was forced to behave, but was he a “good boy”? Not yet!

You know from having children, that when our kids do something wrong, say steal something from a store, or hit their brothers...and we make them SAY they are sorry, they are not really sorry, and often mad, because they got in trouble-—and may a little more sneakily take revenge on the tattle tale who ratted them out! As parents we must be smart enough to see that we have to change their attitude. We have to come up with something to change the inside of the child, so that they are REALLY sorry for the damage they caused, or they will go on to do worse things.

This is what Jesus meant. He said, if you wash the outside of a cup, and the inside is still dirty, you don’t want to drink out of it. But, if you clean the inside, then really the whole cup is clean.

God has forgiven her... fine. But she must pay Caesar’s price - her temporal punishment remains. But hopefully she’s set for eternity.
