Report: Gov. Charlie Crist gets engaged

ST. PETERSBURG - Florida Gov. Charlie Crist is engaged to a woman he met last September during a trip to New York, according to a published report Thursday evening.
Crist asked Carole Rome, his girlfriend of nine months, to marry him on Thursday at his St. Petersburg apartment, the St. Petersburg Times reported on its Web site. Crist says she said yes without hesitation.

How convenient. Just in time to squash rumors that he’s gay so now he can be in the running to be McCain’s VP pick. More likely, he's finally found someone who is willing to give him cover on his well known sexual preference. She gets to be the Governor's wife and doesn't have to sleep with the guy.
