Thanks for the link. The Rassmann incident is exactly what I was referring to. There was an excellent MSM piece that told the story complete with graphics that backed the Swiftee's version. I want to say it was in the Washington Post.
I don't blame Rassmann. He fell out of the boat at the beginning of the fight and probably saw nothing and was scared to boot. Naturally, he felt great affection for the guy who fished him out and believed Kerry's BS about what happened. He was badly used by the Kerry campaign IMHO.

I formed a close bond with my fellow junior officers in a peacetime Army. We were all green and thrown into a situation where we had to lead men far more experienced than us. We talked to each other, socialized together, partied together. To this day, if one of them ran for President even as a socialist, I would never join a group criticizing their service, even if they were one of the, shall we say, group not headed for fast promotion.
The fact that 100 of Kerry's former fellow officers, shipmates and chain of command from wartime service joined the Swiftees, knowing what Kerry and the MSM would throw at them, told me something was definitely not right about young Mr. Kerry's Vietnam service.

Zernike wrote, "'Swift boat' has become the synonym for the nastiest of campaign smears."
No, "Swift Boat" is the synonym for "Getting the truth out".
