We haven’t worked on attacks from behind yet. That’s a more advanced class that starts this fall. Every woman in the current class is already committed to participating in the next one. But yeah, we’ll eventually have an answer for that.

I asked because my brother had me in that grip and I was starting to black-out (no air) and I 'think' I used both hands between his arm and my neck (I really wanted to breath) and dug my fingers into his wrist and arm while pushing out.

There must be a lot of nerves there which allowed me to break out. We were just messing around but afterward I became convinced that younger brothers really want to kill you sometimes. When it was all over, he was amazed how much power I had gained all of the sudden. I said, "Look, stupid. I couldn't breath."

Krav Maga is great. I was taking classes for about a year, before I lost my job. One of the best things you learn is how to keep a survival mindset, and how to focus in the midst of distractions. My instructor came up with some great scenarios, full of distractions, to help us develop the split-second thinking and reactions.

Oh, and there is definitely a great response to the attacks from behind.
