That's not inconsistent with my analysis, and I've noticed the same thing.

FR has always been fertile ground for trolls who sign up to criticize Republicans for not being conservative enough. It's the perfect cover. I'm familiar with enough of those critical of the GOP to know that that's genuinely what they are, but there are plenty more that I don't really know. The effect is to demoralize conservatives and allow liberals to win.

FR has pretty much reached the tipping point where new Republican supporters will no longer sign up because it's not the forum for them. This is quite different than what it was four or more years ago.

If McCain was really serious, he’d be talking about killing off Iranians with scores and scores of lawyers.

I play golf alot,a golfer friend of mine lost his wife on a course we were playing,I think it was 9th,a par 4

She hit a bad shot, ended up behind a barn, she wanted to just pitch out,but we insisted she play through the barn,we opened the doors at both ends, she hit a bad shot,it hit a beam bounced back, and she was hit,she died there.

I'll never be able to forget that.

I tried to get my golf buddy to play again,he wouldn't,some of us from the Club finally convinced him.

We got to the 9th hole and he couldn't even put the ball on the tee.

We encouraged him,and he hit his drive behind that damn barn.

We told him we open the barn doors at both ends, but he said,I'm gonna pitch out, last time I played this hole,I shot a 13.

U.S. Republican presidential candidate John McCain, who once sang in jest about bombing Iran, on Tuesday reacted to a report of rising U.S. cigarette exports to the country by saying it may be "a way of killing 'em."

ROFL! No doubts the smoke Nazis must be hysterical over this. They think "death by smoking" is worse than terrorists, cutting off heads, using little children as suicide bombs.

I think his comment is funny! He's just said "who gives a crap?". lol.

I’ll bet you don’t laugh when the town cripple falls down the court house steps either.

Oh, you don’t. Maybe I am wrong. Never mind.

(I don’t laugh at the disabled. Its a joke....OK?)

Whatever will the smoke Nazis think of Iran, now. It's going to require Hugo Chavez to clean up Iran's bad press over this one... Maybe he'll buy Iran a rehabilitation center complete with Chantrix, a spa, personal trainers, and send Danny Glover over to do a film about Hugo's latest newest gift to the peeps of "nuclear bomb loving" Iran.

Yours: t’s still not a very bright thing to say when so many Americans have lost a loved one because of smoking.

Right, he should have instead said: Oh dear! Iran is going to lose lives. We must stop this, or else they won't be able to get all the ingredients they need in order to bomb the US, England, and Israel! Oh heavens, we must never get in the way of any country and its DREAMS!

Or has it always been fertile ground for trolls who sign up to criticize conservatives for not being liberal enough?

> And here you and other pansies sit criticizing him for his only positive trait... BOMB BOMB IRAN. Bomb IRA-A-AN...I love that song.

Check my comment #40 above. We should have no hesitation about using overwhelming force when appropriate, and IMO the Middle East has been begging to be paved over, with a few holes for getting the oil out, for decades. I have no love for the Iranians, either their leaders or their people, but that doesn't mean I hate their people, I just think they're medieval and backward. I can say that without much worry, because I'm not in the public eye running for President. If I were, I'd probably modify my words a bit.

McCain's "Bomb Bomb Iran" line was indeed funny, and I gave him credit for that one.

The cigarette "joke" was stupid and lame, that's all. It shows lack of common sense. You say it was merely "impolite", well yes, that too.

You think McCain's gonna act decisively about Iran? I don't think so. I'll believe McCain has stones when he stops playing pussy-foot with the socialists and kissy-face with the invaders here at home first. No sign of that yet.

Gee, if McCain keeps up with these non-PC remarks, he might receive my vote with enthusiasm. :)

Sure it has. Just look at the mission statement.

A significant portion of long-term Freepers supported Rudy Giuliani early on, and they were shown the door.

At that point, there were plenty of good GOP candidates. If one supported Rudy then, they weren't conservative. FR ain't an "RNC" site. And while there were a handful of good people wiped out, most of them were tools. The type of nuts who hang out on their faggy FR-spinoff sites and scrutinize the progress of Freepathons down to the penny. I prefer to have people with better things to do on the forums I hang out on.
