FBI agent indicted in Chihuahua's shooting death

A local FBI agent who reportedly shot and killed a 3-pound Chihuahua named Sassy in front of his home near Lorena in February was indicted Wednesday on felony charges that could end his career.

A McLennan County grand jury indicted 39-year-old Lovett Leslie Ledger Jr. for cruelty to animals, a state jail felony punishable by up to two years in a state jail and a $10,000 fine.

Before the grand jury decided to indict Ledger, prosecutor Crawford Long granted his request to tell them his side of the story. Ledger was in the closed-door grand jury room for about 25 minutes, and then his wife, Jacqueline Ledger, spent about 10 minutes with the grand jury.

Ledger initially lied to investigators about the dog’s death but later told deputies he shot the dog, according to an affidavit filed to support Ledger’s arrest.

For this, his career is ended and he is facing jail/fines...

For taking human life, Lon Horiuchi is a free man today...

This nation is lost.

Apart from the fact that these Horiuchi and Ledger are both FBI agents, I’m not sure how you reach the conclusion you have.

Should no FBI agent be held accountable for their actions until Horiuchi is? The 2 cases could not be more different, one is quite cut and dried, and the other, not so much.

If what we read here is true, FBI agent or not, this guy is nothing but a punk. I hope he goes to jail just long enough to meet a new boyfriend.

Sadly, the quality of agents is not what it once was.

This guy sounds like a real piece of work, I hope he gets the time he needs to think about what he has done. A felony conviction and a year in the slam would be just about right. That way he will never be allowed around firearms or law enforcement employment again.

Collateral indicates he is a sniper on an FBI SWAT Team.

We should be glad he wasn’t practicing on a woman holding a baby.

“thos folks at ruby ridge didn’t seem to quite as saintly as they were made out to be.”

So that justifies killing a woman holding a baby? Keep these comments coming, officer. They show everyone the kind of people we have “protecting” us.

Until I read the article I thought this was going to be a case of the new police standard operating procedure of "Step 1, shoot the dogs. Step 2, check the warrant to make sure you have the right address." Instead this was a case of the SOB FBI agent just shooting a neighbor's dog with a pellet gun in front of witnesses and then lying about it. Throw the book at him.

Randy Weaver and his companions were not saints, but they did not deserve the treatment they got from the FBI and BATF, and especially not death............

Yep. Clear cut to me. He should lose his job if the story is accurate.

The dog lurched to one side upon being shot, then rolled into a yard where she died, she has said.

“I’ve never heard a noise like that from an animal,” Mitchell told the Tribune-Herald in March, describing it as “a screaming sound.”

This guy shows poor judgment and should not have a gun. His poor judgment kills a woman holding a baby and not held accountable but the book is thrown at him for shooting a chihuahua.

There's two types of cops in this world --those who've been caught in their lies and those who have yet to be caught.

Huh? When did Ledger shoot a woman holding a baby? I know that Horiuchi did at Ruby Ridge, and the corrupt Clinton administration asserted federal authority over that case to remove it from the state court and then kill it in the federal court, but what does that have to do with Ledger's off duty dog sniping?
