I would bet this will portray the “patriotic kids” being leftist at the start.. The kind who are bullied by football players and cheerleaders. At the surface everything is a veneer although the surface is a clue i.e. if it looks like something a conservative parent thinks is good, it’s evil. If it’s something parents disapprove of, it’s good. The review site Plugged In describes one of Carl Ellsworth’s previous films (Disturbia) that way,

“it wants cloistered young people—isolated from true community by the pseudo-interaction of text messaging and online video games—to feel less secure in pristine neighborhoods full of secretive strangers trying to fool everyone with their well-manicured yards. They’re phony people with hidden agendas and empty lives. At least that’s the cynical perspective of LaBeouf’s brooding, restless teen.”
