Not yet...
Rush is paying the rent, his income tax bill is probably around $20 million a year.
If I own the airwaves, where are my earnings from advertising revenue?
“Public ownership” of the airwaves is a logical fallacy. The spectrum of frequencies are regulated and assigned by the FCC, but the outlets to whom they grant broadcast licenses are privately-owned and -operated for PROFIT, with the exception of PBS and the non-profit CPB, which are socialist throwbacks, much like Mr. Nader.
So do I! LOL! In about 3 minutes.....
By this logic, all the air we breathe belongs “to the American people” as well. And the government should charge us for it. The “airwaves” don’t exist until someone invests in building a radio station and broadcast facilities. For a supposedly smart man, Ralph is strangely out of touch with reality.
Well, why not? It works with oil leases!
Collect lease payments for drilling rights, and pass laws prohibiting actual oil extraction!
Great scam!
If it works for oil...
Just saying.
I was thinking exactly the same thing. I hope Rush doesn’t even mention this.
I’m sure Rush would be more than happy for his affiliates to competitively bid for broadcast specrum.
It’s a veiled threat to revive the (un-)Fairness Doctrine.
38 million a year?
Doesn't this come out to about $105,000 per day, every day of the year?
This has to be wrong.
These progressives see anyone with deep pockets as a target.
There’s no more reason Rush should ‘share the wealth’ than for any other celebrity.
Tell Nader to go after Katie Couric, Matt Lauer, et al first. Aren’t they being paid the same way? They’re just worth alot less.

Nader Scams College Kids
March 13, 2003
...And if you’re in college or have kids in college, the odds are pretty good that you’re supporting Ralph Nader too. You probably didn’t know that, did you? And that’s just the way Nader and his nationwide network of Public Interest Research Groups (PIRGS) would like to keep it.
The PIRG idea was born in the late 1960s, but really caught on through the 1970s and 1980s. It has again picked up momentum in the last few years, due mainly to the publicity that accompanied Nader’s presidential campaign. The scam varies from campus to campus, but it basically works like this:

I think Nader just wants to get some free air time from El Rushbo.
Then CNN and the networks need to pay rent. Nadir is nothing but a radical marxist.
But not only that - Nader says that Rush is on Welfare because he's broadcasting on a frequency owned by the government. Who thinks Mr. Nader would support Rush actually PURCHASING AND PERSONALLY OWNING, say, 15% of the current AM bandwidth? The government relinquishing all control of it, in other words.
Nader, and millions of the Nutroots would incur apoplexy if Rush, or Clear Channel Communications actually OWNED that bandwidth.
Flipping moron!
Oh, I agree with that.
noun
1. an extreme state of adversity; the lowest point of anything
This part cracks me up. Ralphie must think he "burned" Rush or something. What a kook.
