Obama Under Fire Over Afghan 'Insult'
Adelaide Now ^ | 07.12.2008 | Stephen Collinson

WHITE House hopeful Barack Obama has said the Afghan government of President Hamid Karzai has not "gotten out of the bunker" to rebuild the war-torn country. Senator Obama's comments, ahead of an expected visit to Afghanistan in the coming weeks, drew immediate fire from Republicans, who accused him of insulting a key US "war on terror" ally.
Senator Obama also said in an interview with CNN, to be broadcast in full this weekend, that the Bush administration had allowed al-Qaeda and the Taliban to regroup, by diverting vital US forces to the war in Iraq. "I think the Karzai government has not gotten out of the bunker and helped to organise Afghanistan and (the) government, the judiciary, police forces, in ways that would give people confidence," he said. "So there are a lot of problems there. "A big chunk of the issue is that we allowed the Taliban and al-Qaeda to regenerate itself when we had them on the ropes. "That was a big mistake and it's one I'm going to correct when I'm president."

Senator Obama's Republican foes accused him of ignoring multiple assassination attempts against Karzai, and of offending a vital US ally. "Barack Obama had no interest in Afghanistan until he started running for president," said Republican National Committee spokesman Alex Conant. "Obama has never visited Afghanistan to meet our allies on the ground, yet he is audacious enough to assert that President Karzai has not gotten 'out of the bunker'. "Obama's words are naively out-of-touch with reality and offensive to America's allies."

Obama-lama-ding-dong demonstrates once again why he is way too inexperienced to even be considered as President of the United States.

Hasn’t even been to Afghanistan but he’s going to pass judgment on what or what isn’t being done there.

What a doofus.

Funny, Barack hasn’t jumped off the porch to ever have a real job in his life.

Probably with more respect than he deserves. After all, those are OUR troops, and they treated even the Hildab*tch with respect when she was in Iraq mugging for the cameras in past years.

"...it's one I'm going to correct when I'm president."

A little presumptuous, Obama is? Well, the voters will decide that.

This punk reminds me of John F’in Kerry. In one breath they say they are going to “repair America’s image abroad” and in the very next they insult our allies. Arrogant, self-important, inexperienced; same-same.

As President of Afghanistan, I imagine part of his traditional uniform would be a pulwar. This distinctive Afghan version of the scimitar is perfect for turning insulting foreign diplomats into sopranos.

Although from the looks of the fish symbol in the maker's mark near the hilt, I'd say this pulwar was likely made by a Christian.

I know - but it’s because they’re a class act. First-class.

The democraps are not worthy of them. That’s why we cannot let this empty suit puppet of leftist handlers/power brokers become the CIC.

Hey, they’re just people clinging to their guns and religion and they have antipathy towards those not like them. Can’t really expect much from them. /sarc
