I thought the writer might really have some useful ideas until he started the “Global Warming” dissembling and advocating for higher taxes. That kinda negated anything else he had to say.

Right now, I see Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi as our two biggest energy problems. Everyone needs to stay on McCain's case. His “softening” on offshore drilling might actually turn into some actual progress.

I found some of the comments on the U.S. News site revealing. Those advocating for drilling outnumbered all others, but these same folks showed a grasp of the situation by also calling for R&D into alternatives. That's a good thing. I think that is what most Republicans are calling for, despite the Dems claims otherwise.

Additionally, all of those opposed to drilling (and in many cases to nuclear) used the outdated “10 years before we see any oil” and the misleading “oil companies already hold leases to X number of government acres” arguments.

I found it interesting that the Dem information machine had been able to spread their misinformation so effectively.

It's Mort Zuckerman, what did you expect? I knew this warmed over leftist douche bag would start off on the enviro propaganda at some point. What sort of surprised me was how many common sense ideas he included in this article.

I used to read US News until Zuckerman published an editorial excoriating George HW Bush (W's daddy, for clarity) for being too right wing, or some such nonsense. I let my subscription expire, and have never even browsed the magazine since.
