So much has been made about Barack Obama's religion. But what does he believe, and how did he arrive at those beliefs?
In 1981 Barack Obama was 20 years old, a Columbia University student in search of the meaning of life. He was torn a million different ways: between youth and maturity, black and white, coasts and continents, wonder and tragedy. He enrolled at Columbia in part to get far away from his past; he'd gone to high school in Hawaii and had just spent two years "enjoying myself," as he puts it, at Occidental College in Los Angeles. In New York City, "I lived an ascetic existence," Obama told NEWSWEEK in an interview on his campaign plane last week. "I did a lot of spiritual exploration. I withdrew from the world in a fairly deliberate way." He fasted. Often, he'd go days without speaking to another person.
For company, he had books. There was Saint Augustine, the fourth-century North African bishop who wrote the West's first spiritual memoir and built the theological foundations of the Christian Church. There was Friedrich Nietzsche, the 19th-century German philosopher and father of existentialism. There was Graham Greene, the Roman Catholic Englishman whose short novels are full of compromise, ambivalence and pain. Obama meditated on these men and argued with them in his mind.
When he felt restless on a Sunday morning, he would wander into an African-American congregation such as Abyssinian Baptist Church in Harlem. "I'd just sit in the back and I'd listen to the choir and I'd listen to the sermon," he says, smiling a little as he remembers those early days in the wilderness. "There were times that I would just start tearing up listening to the choir and share that sense of release."

And Obama also wandered in the wilderness for 40 days, and was tempted of the devil. Then the devil offered him all the kingdoms of the earth if he'd worship him, and Obama said: "Deal!"

So a spoiled commie brat spent a few weeks fasting, reading books, and secretly crying in the back of black churches in New York.
He found the perfect religion in black liberation theology, as it perfectly combined communism and Christianity. But he didn’t attend much because of his kids.
He’s now floating around in commie religious purgatory, but still prays and reads his bible everyday. And his race speech was really a speech on religion:
As the struggle to overcome race problems in America has to be supported by faith, because race equality will be a messy process he intends to accomplish.
He has yet to find it.

Anyone notice that we haven’t heard the word “Genius”, like we normally do of the dem candidate? Maybe his grades sucked when he was partying at school...

NO man on this earth can claim the “Hindu Monkey god” as his favorite god, and still be a Christian. The first commandent says, “Thou shat have no other Gods before me. I suspect Obama to be a Marxist Communist more than anything else. Mrs Obama said her family ate bacon when she was on the View.
"My particular set of beliefs," Obama says, "may not be perfectly consistent with the beliefs of other Christians."
In other words he is admitting in his weaseling way that he is NOT a Christian. You are either a Christian or not a Christian.
I remember once in 1993, someone left a copy of this rag on a table at work. I skimmed through it. Now,this is when the clintons, after less than a year were in a serious crash and burn. An article describing the “strength of their faith” was featured,with a large (top half of page)photo of Herself,kneeling,in a church. It was taken in the heroic pose, looking up at her. They gave her a halo. It’s been getting worse since then. I read page one of this screed, and I submit it as proof.
How many “Christian” churches do you know which invites and welcomes Muslims as members? Obama’s church does.
True Christian believers have no doubt.
I said he wasn't a Christian for the following reasons:
1) He spent 20 years in a church that specialized in Black Liberation Theology. There is none of Christ in any of that.
2) He supports abortion and even fought against protecting the survivors of abortion.
3) He lacks even rudimentary humility. He permeates arrogance on the order of Benito Mussolini or Hugo Chavez.
4) He professes 'faith' but will not have that faith questioned. Christians are supposed to be able to give a good account of their faith. He can do that without being dogmatic, if he has a biblical and practical faith in Christ on which to comment.
As far as the Monkey God goes, Barry has an inordinate proclivity to 'misspeak'. Perhaps he just liked the artwork. I don't know enough about that issue right now to say. But what I have said is based on what I have observed.
If Obama is Christian then so is Karl Marx.
