Presidential Candidates Blame Each Other for Failed Immigration Reform Legislation

Addressing the nation's largest Latino rights group today, Sen. John McCain will accuse Sen. Barack Obama of distorting his record and remind Latino voters that he championed immigration reform legislation that ultimately failed in Congress last year.

McCain and Obama are locked in a fierce battle for Latino voters — a Democratic-leaning minority group that could have considerable influence in key battleground states this November.

Obama leads McCain among Latinos by 30 percentage points, according to a recent Gallup poll, despite heavy support from Latinos for Sen. Hillary Clinton in the Democratic primaries.

Making his case to the National Council of La Raza today, the Republican presumptive nominee will remind Latino voters that he supported the failed immigration reform legislation in the Senate last year — a move that cost him politically among the conservative base of the Republican Party.

"At a moment of great difficulty in my campaign, when my critics said it would be political suicide for me to do so, I helped author with Senator [Ted] Kennedy comprehensive immigration reform, and fought for its passage not once but twice," McCain said Monday at a conference of the National Council of La Raza in San Diego.

"I cast a lot of hard votes, as did the other Republicans and Democrats who joined our bipartisan effort … I took my lumps for it without complaint. My campaign was written off as a lost cause. I did so not just because I believed it was the right thing to do for Hispanic Americans. It was the right thing to do for all Americans, that's why I did it," McCain said.

I have said that my vote for McCain will boil down to a game-time decision, depending on who the VP is and if McCain will reach out to conservatives.

So far, with crap like this, it's looking more and more that I'll vote downticket and write-in someone else's name in for POTUS.

If he gets their vote..great. Public opinion will carry the day when congress starts to vote. An avalanche of public opinion will block his legislation. We did it once..we can do it again.

The problem McLame has with Obama is THAT HE IS RIGHT

His Lame-o stances have come back to bite him in the a$$ and all Obamarama has to do is speak plainly about McLame’s record

(which he is showing to be very good at)

“My campaign was written off as a lost cause. I did so not just because I believed it was the right thing to do for Hispanic Americans. It was the right thing to do for all Americans, that’s why I did it,” McCain said.”

No, you changed your tune to enforcement during the primary and fooled people who didn’t know better to get the nomination. The NY Times endorsement didn’t hurt either. Americans told you what was best but you ignored them.

McCain Supporters Farthest Off the Mark
WASHINGTON (March 31, 2007) – A new poll using neutral language finds that primary and caucus voters have little knowledge of candidates’ immigration positions. The results also show that voters often do not share their candidate’s position.

Among the findings: * Only 34 percent of McCain voters, 42 percent of Clinton voters, and 52 percent of Obama voters correctly identified their candidate as favoring eventual citizenship for illegal immigrants who meet certain requirements.
* Of McCain voters, 35 percent mistakenly thought he favored enforcement that would cause illegals to return home, another 10 percent thought he wanted mass deportations, and 21 percent didn’t know his position.

Mr. McEgo: “I can pander to more illegals better than Obamasiah can.”

Obamasiah: “No you can’t.”

Mr. McEgo: “Yes I can.”

Obamasiah: “I can pander to more illegals even better and faster than Mr. McEgo can.”

Mr. McEgo: “No you can’t.”

Obamasiah: “Yes I can.”

Mr. McEgo: “Vote for me.”

Obamasiah: “No, vote for me.”

Mr. McEgo: “No, me.”

Obamasiah: “No, me.”

Posted before, but it’s still right on:

John McCain is walking along the desert near his ranch in Arizona with a metal detector. Suddenly the detector erupts, chirps and beeps. McCain throws aside the detector and frantically digs at the sand. Within a few seconds he discovers a bottle and rubs the side. A puff of smoke appears and a genie hovers over a transfixed McCain.

The genie says, “I’ve have been locked in that lamp for a 1000 years. Because you have freed me, I grant you three wishes. Name anything you want. Now, what is your first wish?”

So McCain scratches his head and says, “I know, I want to have open borders so Mexicans can come across to America easier.” “Granted”, says the genie. “And the second?”

McCain breathlessly says, “I want to replace the image of Thomas Jefferson on the nickel with my hero from the senate, Hillary Clinton. “Done”, the genie says, “Now the last?”

McCain says, “Who are you again?”

“It was the right thing to do for all Americans, that’s why I did it,” McCain said.”

70% and more of Americans disagree with your arrogant and insulting position on this issue, McCain.

“We did it once..we can do it again.”

I hope you’re right, but the snakes and weasels in Congress saw last year’s voter uprising against amnesty, and then during this election they’ve seen few pay a price for supporting amnesty, and they’ve seen the number one RINO supporter of amnesty win the Republican nomination.

This did not become a vote deciding issue for very many. To defeat it again, we’ll have to make last summer look like a a mild mannered warm-up for fiercer battles to come.

The bought and paid for will be listening more to their big contributors during the next amnesty battle.

I feel sick.

1. Where’s his allegiance?

2. Are American taxpayers global ATM machines?

I just cannot bring myself to vote for that man (McCain). And not voting for Obama is a no brainer, too. So I am narrowing it down between two Conservative/Smaller Government types that I believe will be on my ballot.

I cannot bring myself to vote for Democrats, even if they have an (R) after their name.
