U.S. President George Bush Monday paid a condolence call on the family of former White House spokesman Tony Snow, who died during the weekend.
Bush, accompanied by first lady Laura Bush, went by motorcade to Snow's Virginia home shortly after a Rose Garden appearance during which he rescinded an executive order banning new offshore oil drilling.
Snow died of colon cancer Saturday. He was 53.
Bush said Sunday he was saddened by Snow's death. Snow served as White House press secretary from May 2006 to last September when he revealed his cancer had recurred. Before joining the administration he worked as an anchor and political commentator for Fox News.
Snow is to be buried Thursday, the White House said.

God bless Pres. Bush and his good heart.
Prayers for dear Tony Snow’s family.
God bless our dear hearted President. And God comfort the family of Tony Snow.
I’m going to miss having a president with a heart.
It goes without saying that I will miss Tony. :*(
Why is this news?
Tony Snow was a wonderful man. He worked for the President. It’s no wonder the boss pays condolences to an employee.
Why, oh why, do we put talking heads at so high a level?
Prayers to the Snow family.
Can you imagine Obamaniac doing this? No way.
Too bad you haven’t read more about him. He was completely vigilant .. had the tests earlier than even recommended, I believe, and he was definitely religious about his checkups. He sadly was marked by his genetics. God rest his soul.
A truly decent man mourning another decent man.
Prayers for the Snowman’s Wife and kids.
Yep and absolutely to both. God bless them both and Tony’s family as well.
I understand Tony’s old house was in Va. After it burned he bought a house in MD out in the country. It was mentioned several times on Fox. Why did UPI get that wrong do you think?
Tony was vigilant - was checked every 6 mos from long before it was discovered. Even with all the regular tests he underwent it was stage 3 or 4 before it was detected. We must have better testing or what’s the point.
I just find the whole thing difficult. I am in cancer detection; for 34 years. I find it hard to believe that there was nothing to see and then it had progressed to a Stage 3 in 6 months. It was either missed or it was a very aggressive tumor. And either way, he went way too young.
