This was a story last week, I believe and reported on here.
Try a search for ‘yellowcake’.
just type “yellowcake” into FreeRepublics “search”
Lots and lots o’ goodies thar.
This is the last thread I saw on the matter: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-bloggers/2041749/posts
I saw a link here on FR a few weeks ago. Brit Hume mentioned it last week on Fox News. How much do they have to find to be considered WMD?
It was hijacked in transit along with 250,000 gallons of Hershey’s chocolate syrup.
The only clues are an enormous pile of paper plates & forks outside Rosie O’Donnell’s barn...
Like the 400+ WMD shells that were found, since this material was pre-gulf war stuff it therefore doesn’t exist and saying “Saddam had no WMD” continues.
Following is the bulk of a letter I wrote a few days ago to the Spokane, Wash., newspaper:
It has been reported that some 500 metric tons of uranium “yellowcake,” the last remnant of Saddam Hussein’s nuclear weapons program, are to be transferred from Iraq to Canada (a front page item relegated to page A3 (S-R 7/6/08).
In his 2003 State of the Union address, more than three months after the Congress had authorized military action against Saddam and his government, Pres. Bush said that “The British government has learned that Saddam Hussein recently sought significant quantities of uranium from Africa.” This statement was correct on its face, and British intelligence sources continued to affirm what they had learned.
It has been said that Amb. Wilson refuted the British findings, and Pres. Bush’s statement based thereon, but on July 16, 2004, Wilson stated to the Intelligence Committee, I never claimed to have debunked the allegation that Iraq was seeking uranium from Africa”. Moreover, after a newspaper column written by Wilson generated a firestorm of politically contrived angst, Prime Minister Tony Blair told reporters that “In case people should think that the whole idea of a link between Iraq and Niger was some invention, in the 1980s we know for sure that Iraq purchased round about 270 tons of uranium from Niger.”
Between 1980 and 1982 Iraq procured more than 400 tons of yellowcake from Portugal and Niger, storing it near the Tuwaitha facility south of Baghdad. This facility and its yellowcake were monitored and frequently inspected by the International Atomic Energy Agency after the 1991 Gulf War, but about 1.8 metric tons of “yellow cake” and 500 tons of unrefined uranium went missing as the Iraqis left Tuwaitha unattended during the war.
Yellowcake was known to be in Iraq. Also countless barrels of chemical precursors and tons of conventional 1000lbs bombs and such plus weapons from all over Europe. Also they found plenty of old chemical weapons that were supposed to have been destroyed. Never mind there were no WMDs.
