"It's government's responsibility to protect people from obvious risks."
What they mean is "It's government's responsibility to control their lives!

Those folks in S.F have entirely too much time on their hands.

And where does homosexuality rank with respect to
“preventable deaths”?

What about pot?
Can we still smoke pot in bars and restaurants in the SF area or is that JUST in Amsterdam?

“It’s government’s responsibility to protect people from obvious risks.”
How can you derive THAT from even the most torturous twisting of the Constitution and the writings of our Founding Fathers?

Good to know all these idiots gather together in similar places.
It will make targeting so much easier.

Gavin Newsom has to be one of the most reprehensible politicians in the United States. I guess sleeping with a top aides and good friend’s wife doesn’t rank up there with things he wants to prevent. Can we expel that city from the union?
San Francisco’s new city motto: Sodomy not Smoking.
To: SmithL
Why don’t they just outlaw the cigarette and be done with it?
Sheesh!
To: SmithL
This from the city that thinks “smoking butts” is OK.

"It's government's responsibility to protect people from obvious risks."I'm from the government, and I'm here to protect you from obvious risks.

...I smoked Camel straights for years...finally quit 5 years ago because I was scared of lung cancer...now I got COPD which I never figured on...I always thought it would be the cancer that got me....at least with the COPD I can live with it because it’s not bad yet and I can lose weight/exercise ect...people ought to quit but S.F.is going about it wrong.
To: SmithL
Can’t be after the gangs, they have to go after smokers.
Much like Mayor Bloomers in NYC. Crime increasing in every precinct but they do catch ashtrays in restaurants.

Seems every smoker that quits develops something. Perhaps people ought not quit.

I would think it hilarious if companies like Rite-Aide and Walgreens would just shut their doors, and move out of Calimexico.
California might be the "promised land" to some people, but I wouldn't live there if they gave me a house. That is truly where most of the folks - who are not quite up to the status of "criminally insane" - go to live.
Aids ok, smoking no? That is not the logic of rational thinking.
On the other issue, the Constitution is in place to protect the people from the Government...not from the tabacco companies. Also, from the statement made, exactly WHO defines "obvious risks"?
IF their ever give the world an enema, it will be inserted in california.
