What is “Ted Baxter” all I can think of is that guy on too close for comfort...in which case I don’t get it.

There used to be a show called the Mary Tyler Moore show. Ted Baxter was the egotistical and not very bright news anchor with a smarmy smile.

What is Ted Baxter all I can think of is that guy on too close for comfort...in which case I dont get it. Go to the Video store, and rent some DVDs of a show from the Seventies called "The Mary Tyler Moore Show". Ted Baxter is the buffoonish anchor with the huge ego.
It's a hilarious show, and you may recognize a few people in it.

Tex Baxter is very likely the funniest, most entertaining sitcom character ever created.
